Room 406, late Saturday night

After getting back from Washingon, Isabel left a message for Wyatt, and stretched out on her bed. She was trying hard not to think about what could possibly go wrong in the morning but her mind kept offering up lots of worse case scenarios.

The door was open.

"You realize I'm going to spend all day worrying," Wyatt said grudgingly.

"I should be back after lunch," she promised. "So you'll only have to worry for the morning."

"When are you leaving?" Wyatt asked. "How are you getting there? And where is there? How far away?"

"In the morning. I'm driving." Because Isabel knew if she asked him to orb her there, he'd find some reason to stay. "And Blue Cove, Delaware."

"I can orb you," Wyatt said. Sometimes, the boy was predictable.

Amazingly so. Not that she minded. At all. "And then never leave? I don't think so. Besides, I do like to drive sometimes."

"I'd be closer if you need me," Wyatt said.

"You'd be orbing," Isabel replied with a small laugh. "It's not like you have to worry about traffic on I-95."

"Don't use logic on me," Wyatt pouted.

"Why not? It's flawless. And right."

Relieved that Wyatt wasn't insisting on going along, Isabel stretched out on the bed, and patted the spot next to her. "It's going to be okay. I promise."

Wyatt stretched out next to her. "I trust Bridge and Xander and Parker," he said. "And I know you're not a damsel in distress. You can kick ass. But I'm still going to worry."

"I get that. I'd do that same if it were you going off to slay dragons or demons or whatever and I couldn't come along," she admitted. "I'll call. I promise. And then I'll come back and we'll have to figure out a way to spend the afternoon." Yes, she was being evil. She was pretty sure she knew exactly what Wyatt would suggest as a way to pass the time. If thinking about it distracted him now, that was a good thing.

Wyatt arched an eyebrow. "Are you suggesting some sort of bribe?" he said.

"I'd never do anything of the sort," Isabel grinned, even as her hand slipped under his shirt.

Only to slip right back out again.

"I have news! I almost forgot."

"What?" Wyatt said, pouting for a different reason now.

"Meg got into Stanford," Isabel grinned, well aware of the pout and the reason for it.

"Really?" Wyatt said. "That's great. Have you heard anything yet?"

"I did. Meg checked UNLV's website for me," she said sheepishly. Still embarrassed that she hadn't been brave enough to do it herself. "I'm in."

"Like there was any doubt," Wyatt grinned, giving Isabel a hug.

"Maybe, but it's still nice to know for sure," Isabel smiled, returning the hug and stealing a kiss. "Now I just have to wait till next month to hear from Cornell, and then make a decision."

"Vegas is closer to California," Wyatt pointed out.

"Because you'd drive there."

Hopefully Wyatt wouldn't mind the hand that had slipped back under his shirt.

Wyatt did not mind at all. "Well, no," he said. "Perks of being a Whitelighter."

"Do you even have a license?" she teased, innocently stroking her fingers over his chest.
