Room 406, Later in the evening

The reading Isabel had done on ghost in the last twenty-four hours actually seemed to be worthwhile and hopefully had provided some clues to how to stop this. She'd also hopefully talked two more people into signing up for the volleyball tournament.

Of course the conversation with Walter made her realize something. But between the ghosts, the slumber party on Saturday and the Fourth of July party that was rapidly approaching, Isabel was pretty certain she wouldn't be able to do anything about it until next week. However it wasn't too early to start planning. She pulled out her notebook and made a few notes before putting it aside and starting the ghost research again.

The door's open.

"Phoebe, it's Isabel. How's Bel doing?"

Phoebe smiled faintly and shook her head.

"Hi, Isabel. He's doing about as not well as can be expected."

Isabel sighed. "Of course. I saw him in archery yesterday. He told me what was going on. I promised him I would do some research. I found a few things out that I thought you should know."

"You did? Want to compare notes?"

Isabel was one of the people Phoebe trusted.

"Sure. I didn't find much. Mostly just that this has happened before. A found an account of it as told by a witch called Mary Morgan in a book about local ghost stories and legends."

"Somehow I am not surprised that this has happened before," Phoebe said softly. "Did the witch describe what caused this?"

"Some kind of demon that looked like a man. Except for the tentacles coming out of its back. She said witches were being blamed so when the demon showed up, her coven secretly tried to get rid of it. They couldn't destroy it. So they did some sort of binding spell and bound it to the earth."

Phoebe gasped audibly. "Did you say... tentacles?"

"Yes, you've heard about that then? Pippi mentioned seeing them in her crystal ball when I saw her earlier."

"Yeah, I was with her last night." She swallowed. "I found something about him in a book today. He feeds on fear and pain. He provokes negatibe emotions."

"And what better way to do that then to send in ghosts and make people feel guilty or miserable? Can we kill him outright? Or does this require magic?"

"The book said he culdn't be destroyed, only bound. But... they didn't know about us here at Fandom back then." There may have been hope in Phoebe's voice.

"No they didn't. If anyone can figure it, I'm sure we will. I'm going to keep reading. See if I can find anything else. In the meantime, tell Bel...I don't know, just tell him I was asking about him."

"I will, Isabel. Thank you."

"You don't have to thank me. It's what friends do. Let me know if there's anything I can do. Bye Phoebe."

Phoebe smiled into the phone. "You know, we really should talk or hang out and do something when there isn't a catastrophe going on." She shook her head. "Night, Isabel."

"Is there ever not some sort of catastrophe?" Isabel chuckled. "I've been organizing a big beach party for the Fourth. Hopefully I'll see you there. Night."
