Roswell, Friday morning

In the midst of packing and generally being pissed as hell at the world, Isabel snuck away for a few minutes to send some emails.

I'm here. And oh do I wish I was there.

Remember I said it was going to be a nice peaceful visit? That everything seemed calm in the emails and phone calls I got from everyone here?

They lied. They didn't want to worry me.

Long story short, Max has been an idiot. Yes, color me shocked. My folks are pissed at him and have decided we need some quality time together as a family. So we can bond. What that really means is that they're using me as a go-between and are hoping I can convince him to explain to them what is really going on. It would be so much easier if he would just tell them the truth. But I think the expression there is a snowball's chance in hell.

Anyway, to get this togetherness time, we're going camping. Which means no email. And possibly no cell phone although I'm bringing mine with me in the desperate hope that I'll be able to find some spot that has coverage. I don't care if it means I have to climb a tree. I'll do it.

So don't panic if you don't hear from me till the end of the week. I am still here on the planet. I'm just trapped in hell.

Miss you all already.

Sure you don't want me to hop a plane and come down there? I could bring the bear.

He and the plant are getting along fine, by the way, so don't worry -- I think my plant has an attitude problem. Or it's jealous -- there were a few tense moments, but they managed to sort it out.

Sorry your family is being a pain. If it's any consolation, your family here misses you already. And the camping's bound to be good practice for the rafting trip.

Hang in there, be careful climbing the trees, and try not to kill your brother. Call if you can.

I lived through today. That guy who hates me didn't kill me today. It's a plus.

Also, I wrote a will. You know, in case.
