Hearing that, he had no doubt that - right now - she didn't want anything to do with him.

But she sounded so lost, and he'd spent most of his life disregarding other people's wishes in favour of getting what he wanted. And what he wanted right now was to be on the other side of that door and he had the tools to do it. He spared a moment to wish he'd practiced with them, then dismissed it. If he couldn't pick the lock, he'd seen a jigsaw in the garage.

"Isabel," he called out. "You either tell me that you're one hundred percent okay - so I believe it - or you open this door. And if you don't, I'm coming through it, one way or another."
