Room 406, late afternoon

Isabel wasn't certain what time she finally got home after prom night. All she knew was it was late and she was exhausted from dancing and excitement.

It was after twelve when she finally woke up, and much later when she finally got off the phone with her mother. Diane Evans had enjoyed hearing all the details about prom, and now that she finally knew the truth about her daughter, she liked hearing stories about her friends.

After finally hanging up the phone, Isabel opened the door to her room and stretched out on her bed to read, stopping occasionally to smile at the tiara on her desk.

Snickering, Jack pulled Alexandria over his shoulder and she started giggling like mad as he turned her upside down. "And you're especially not dating this one's daddy." He raised his eyebrows at her, grinning just like the little girl.

Words failed. Isabel looked between the two of them, saw the obvious resemblance and boggled.

Jack righted her and set her on her feet. "Yeah, that was pretty much my reaction. Apparently she's never met me before, just knows me from pictures."

Isabel was still boggling even as the little girl launched herself into her arms. "Hi Mom," she laughed. "I finally got meet my dad. Isn't that great?"

"That's wonderful sweetie," Isabel said, wrapping her arms around her. "How come you didn't meet him before?"

Jack sat next to them on the bed, a bit curious about that question himself.

Alexandria was used to snuggling with her mom. But her dad? That was new. Without a word she scrambled into his lap and leaned against him. "Cause he's a Time Agent," she said, pride evident in her voice. "And he's off doing important stuff and you couldn't call him to tell him about me. But you and Aunt Parker and Uncle Cedric always said he would love me very much."

Jack stared at her for a minute, then shook his head and cuddled her. "Your mom's very smart, you know." He met Izzy's eyes over the top of their - daughter's? - head. "She's always right about these sorts of things."

"Of course I am," Isabel said, forcing a smile as she tried to imagine life as a single mom. Although from the sound of it, she still had her friends. Which was very good to know. "Don't you ever forget it."

Alexandria smiled and tucked her head against Jack, looking for all the world like she wasn't going to move anytime soon. Isabel reached for her camera. "I need a picture of this."

Jack smiled down at her, stroking one hand across her hair, pretty much unaware that Izzy was going for the camera. "She's also really bossy sometimes," he whispered, loud enough Isabel would hear it, and grinned when Alexandria giggled.

"I heard that," Isabel laughed, pointing the camera and taking a picture. She took two more just to be safe, then sat back down, leaning very close to Jack's ear. "Her name?" she hissed.

"Alexandria M. Evans Harkness," he said, trying for stern and failing miserably as she giggled and burrowed into him. "Are you giggling at your mother?"

"No," she said, giggling even more. "And she's not bossy. She's just take charge and organized. Uncle Max and Uncle Michael are scared of her."

Isabel frowned briefly, realizing just how impossible this whole situation was. Max and Michael were gone, and she certainly wasn't sleeping with Jack. But for the moment she realized, the only thing that was important was the little girl that smiled just like her daddy. "As they should be," she grinned.

"So I met one of Phoebe and Bel's kids earlier. They have a brood," Isabel said to Jack. "I'm wondering if we should be afraid."

"Nah, I don't think so. Apparently me and Sam and Cedric and our kids - both mine, one of Sam's and one of Cedric's," he held up a hand, "and no, don't ask - all live together on a timeship." His smile was very strange as he resettled Alexandria more comfortably on his lap. "I think this is more of the standard weirdness for this place. Just cuter than usual."

"Trust me, I won't," she laughed. "But five of you on a timeship? That is an amusing picture. How'd Sam and Cedric take their newfound parenthood?"

"It was interesting." Jack shook his head, remembering. "Cedric was very shocked at the idea, I think. So was I, because wow, that's really odd."

"Just a bit, but it's Fandom after all," Isabel pointed out. "There have been weirder things. And look at it this way, at least they're not trying to kill us."

Bending down, she asked, "So Miss Alexandria, what do you want to do for the rest of the afternoon?"

"Can you do my nails like you do when we're home?" Alexandria asked. "Rainbow colors?"

Jack smiled, watching the two of them, near identical blonde heads together, and decided to leave them to it. "This sounds like secret girl's business, so I'm going to leave you to it." He leaned forward and kissed Alexandria's cheek. "If you need me, I'm down two flights of stairs, in room 215. Okay?"

"Okay daddy," she said. "I'll come see you later maybe. I'll look all pretty for you."

"That sounds good." Jack patted her head as he stood up, then brushed his hand across Izzy's shoulder. "You going to be okay if I leave the two of you alone?"

"Apparently I've been coping on my own all along," Isabel shrugged. "I think we'll be fine."

Jack froze, halfway to the door, and looked back at them. "Yeah, I guess you have," he said sadly.

Isabel winced and got to her feet. "Sorry," she said, walking over to hug him. "Just a little surprised. It's not your fault."
