Platypus Living Room - Evening

The number of candles Isabel had burning to light up the living room would probably make a fire marshall nervous but she wasn't about to put them out.

Her laptop battery had run down, so she settled for sitting on the floor and playing solitare the old fashioned way. With a deck of cards.

[open!]

After a quick glance around to make sure that none of the cards had landed near the candles and were in danger of flaming up, Isabel laughed. "Why am I not surprised that you know that game?"

"What game?" he asked. "I was just throwing cards."

"Fifty-two pick-up, which is more a joke then a game since whoever it's played on usually has to clean up the fifty-two cards," she explained. Which is actually fairly easy to do when all you need to do is wave a hand.

Isabel turned back to Cedric and smiled. "Thanks for playing tonight. I had fun."

"Me too," he said and he was almost surprised at that.

Glancing around at all the candles she snickered. "Yeah, it was a lovely romantic evening. But damn I hope the power comes back on soon."

"Me too," he agreed. "Hot water would be nice."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2007-05-17 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"You could have asked you dope. I would have heated the water up for you," Isabel told him, rolling her eyes. "It only takes about 3 seconds to heat the hot water tank up. I'll do it for you in the morning if the power's still out."

He laughed and said, "I didn't know! I'll take you up on that offer in the morning if the power hasn't been restored."

"See? I'm useful to have around," she smiled. "Why don't you go to bed. I'm going to stay here and make sure the cabin doesn't burn down."

"All right." He sighed quietly, put the cards back together, picked up his wand and stood up. "Night, Isabel."

Isabel heard the sigh as she got to her feet and then took a seat on couch. "You don't have to leave if you don't want to. That wasn't exactly an order."

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2007-05-17 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, I wasn't sighing at that," he said apologetically. "I meant...sleeping alone. It takes some getting used to. Sorry."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2007-05-17 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, I understand really. I mean it's not like Greg never spent the night in my room. Or Jack, when I first got back and things were hard," she said quietly. "It's easier to get used to them being there then it is to them being gone."

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2007-05-17 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," he said and winced inwardly. "It'll get better. And I am tired."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2007-05-17 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay. I'll check and make sure you're all tucked later on," Isabel smiled. "It wouldn't be the first time. Good night Cedric."

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2007-05-17 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good night," he said and mustered up a smile before disappearing into his alcove.

Isabel watched him leave then pulled her legs up and rested her chin on her knees, wishing yet again that people didn't have to leave.

At some point well after midnight, the power came back on. Isabel blew out the candles, checked on Cedric, then went to her alcove, and turned on the star-light. She stretched out on her bed and was asleep within minutes.
