Room 406, Evening

Isabel woke up from her nap and stretched. As long as she doesn't think about the flashing incident this morning, she could consider it a pretty good day. She met a nice guy at the coffee shop, and found a more appropriate robe at the shop in town.

"Well Frog," she said to the purple amphibian in the tank. "It looks like it's just you and me. I think we have to fix that." Opening the door, she listened to the sounds from the hallway as she studied her course catalog.

Belthazor poked his head into room 406. "So, you're Xander's new roommate, huh?" he said, stating the obvious. "Did he change the garlic and cross decor for you?"

Janet was, for no reason whatsoever, wandering up on the fourth floor thinking how much more fun the second floor was, omg when she saw an open door and a new student. "Hey," said Janet. "Welcome to Fandom High. Getting settled in?"

Isabel looked up the sound of someone in the doorway. "Garlic and crosses?"

"Yeah, his last roommate was a vampire. Or did he not mention that to you?" Bel said, leaning against the doorframe.

occ: Oh no problem! I had just posted a "help me get to the party" request in Parker's thread and got sent to Jaye's room. I'd love to meet you at the party though. I've only met a few folks so far.

A vampire? Well Jaye had mentioned them. "Actually he didn't. It was late when I got in and we really didn't get too much of a chance to talk." She studied the rather good looking guy standing in the doorway. Hmm, between Jack, Jake, and now this guy, good looks must be a requirement for admittance.

She motioned him into the room and held out her hand. "Isabel Evans. Nice to meet you."

Bel stepped into the room and took Isabel's hand. "Belthazor," he said, dipping his head to kiss the back of her hand. "I'm in room 412, couple doors down." He straightened and grinned. "Better be careful about who you invite into your room. How did you know I'm not the vampire?"

Oh god, another smooth one. "Sorry, where I'm from we worry more about the possibility of aliens then vampires. So the invite thing is true?" She sat down on her bed and motioned to the desk chair. "What else should I know?"

OOC: Oh, is that what that line was about? I was deeply confused, actually, because I hadn't seen any of the comments in Parker's thread yet. *snerk* Actually, I'd worried you'd throught I was trying to take over as a Big Sis type, and am glad it's not that. :)

Yes! We must meet IC. And OOC, can I glee at you for taking Isabel from the place where she should have run like hell out of Roswell on the series?

[OCC: Well I haven't heard from my Big Bro yet so any guidance is welcome. Although I've followed along forever so OCC I think I'm pretty good. IC, Isabel has heard about gremlins, and vampires, and demons (oh my) but I don't know if she's fully processed it yet.

And yes, she definitely should have run like hell! How something with such a good premise could get so bad...

Bel settled in the chair. "Yeah, it's true," he said. "The school grounds aren't protected because they're technically public, but for dorm rooms they need an invite. The only one at school used to be Xander's roommate. They didn't get along." He leaned forward slightly. "So, aliens? What about them?"

"Have you heard about the Roswell Crash of 1947?" she asked.

"Not too up on my history," Bel confessed. "Well, not recent history. I like ancient and medieval better."

"Ah..." Isabel sat up a bit straighter, almost as if she was giving a lecture. "Well, way back in 1947 there was a crash in a field outside of the sleepy little town of Roswell, New Mexico. If you believe the government, it was only a weather balloon. If you believe any one of the thousands of conspiracy freaks that still come to the town to investigate, it was really an alien space ship."

She sighed, "Some of the more extreme ones insist that aliens were still alive on the ship and are now living among the townspeople." And boy, every once in a while, wouldn't I like to show them how right they are.

Regarding her thoughtfully, Bel said, "So what are you? Believer, non-believer, or alien? That last one wouldn't surprise me around here."

OOC: Your Big Bro's player has been going absolutely nuts right now and is horribly busy, but that should die down very shortly. :) And Janet's generally a helpful type anyway.

Oh, God, if only we could go back in time and somehow become the script writers. And enter the TV show to hit Max upside the head a few times. (I have issues.)

"Oh, definitely a non-believer," she says quickly. "I've lived in Roswell all my life and the only strange things I've seen where the crazies at the Crashdown Festival."

"This place will change your mind then," Bel said. "Right across the hall from you is someone from another planet. Anakin. He's not all green and tentacle-y or anything, he looks like a normal human. So do the kids from Caprica. Chiana's all grey though, so she stands out. There's some blue chick in town, too. So you never saw any little green men in Roswell then?"

"Only the ones my friend's mom used to sell. She had the tackiest little gift shop..."

Isabel realized they'd done a lot of talking about her but not much about him. "So Belthazor, where are you from? Other then down the hall that is."

Bel thought about what to say for a moment. No sense hiding what he was when she'd find out soon enough from the people around school. Might as well be upfront. "Place called the Underworld," he said. "Yeah, real creative name, right? It's underground, hence...Underworld."

"The Underworld?" she asked. "So does that mean you're not human? Even though you look damn fine? And I can't believe I just asked that question." Embarassed, Isabel looked everywhere but at him.

"I'm a demon," Bel said casually, leaning back in the chair, arms across his chest, watching her for a reaction. "Don't worry, that's a legitimate question around this place."

Isabel wished she could say 'I'm an alien' as easily. He seemed to be looking for some sort of reaction. But considering how she felt about Maria's reaction when she found out she was an alien, she was able to play it cool. "Really? You don't look like what I'd expect a demon to look like." But then again, I'm a long way from short, green and bulgy eyes..

Bel chuckled. "Most everyone around here looks human. What did you expect a demon to look like? Red with horns and a tail? Well, the red part is right...half right."

Isabel laughed with him and then shrugged. "I've been brainwashed by pop culture. Remember when I said we really only worry about the aliens in Roswell? Well, I was kidding." She thought she should make that clear. Given all the weird stuff she'd been told about he might have taken her seriously. And there was no truth to that. Really, seriously. Move along now. "We're all just regular people there. Nothing or no one unusual at all."

"There are a few of those around here, too," Bel said, grinning. "You won't be alone in a sea of aliens, demons, witches and vampires. Most everybody is pretty cool. And some of the teachers are cool, too."

"Dr. Grissom is great," Bel said. "But if you don't like bugs, you should stay away from his collection. He's teaching sociology. This semester it's violence; paranormal, which I'm the TA for; and sex cultures. CJ -- I mean Professor Cregg is pretty cool, too. She's the speech teacher. I also liked Camulus for celtic studies and Tara's ethics class, but she's gone now." He paused, stretching in the chair. "Didn't like Sidle too much for bio, but she wasn't a huge bitch or anything. Just a little one."

"Violence, paranormal and sex cultures?" Isabel asked, you'd never see classes like that on the schedule at Roswell High. She gestured at the course catalog. "Some of the classes offered are pretty unique. But I think I'm going to stick to the more traditional ones. Like literature and U.S. Government."

"Wait, the speech teacher is cool? I was thinking of signing up for speech 201 also."

"I like the weird classes," Bel said. "Which means we may not have many classes together. Except Speech if you take it. Yeah, Professor Cregg is great. She's very forgiving when you accidentally hit on her. She loves her students and is never too harsh on them."

"I'll probably be signing up for it if you say she's a good teacher. I haven't a clue about where my love life is going, but I don't think I'll be hitting on teachers. I hope. And it'll be nice to know at least one face in the room."
