Room 406, Late afternoon/early evening

Sunday afternoons were meant for being lazy and not accomplishing anything too important. Isabel is sprawled across her bed, because sitting? So not an option right now. Which is part of the reason she's in her room, bouncing in public is a bit embarrassing.

She's contemplating a selection of nail polish colors, trying to figure out which color she's in the mood for this week. Not that it really mattered, she could always change them easily enough, but it's still nice to sit and do something girly and perfectly normal.

[door's open for now]

"God. I've met the type." Parker folded her arms. "And yeah, it sounds like you have reason to be cautious around the other alien types here. Although I'd guess the ones that are most up-front about it would be fairly safe to ask a few questions." She shook her head. "I'd say you were coping with this incredibly well-- I had no idea you were anything other than human."

"I have been asking questions. It's just hard when you can't admit the truth. I'd thought about asking Aeryn before she left, or maybe Anakin. It seems like they have the most experience with aliens. Lee and Anders' world seems pretty earth-like so I don't think they'd know anything." She shrugged and picked up a bottle of polish, turning it over in her fingers. "But I've kept this secret for so long, it's hard to tell people the truth, even here were it's really not such a big deal."

"And as for coping, I've been doing this my entire life. It's still weird though, I feel more normal here then I ever did in Roswell."

Parker folded her now-silver fingers together, and studied Isabel. "So why are you telling me? How do you know you can trust me? You can, for the record. But... " She looked overwhelmed, and maybe a little embarassed. "God, Isabel, this is huge. Even among all the alien and mutant things here, saving a world is big. I'm glad you told me, just kind of surprised."

"Ask the tough questions why don't you," she said. "To be honest, I'm not sure. I mean we kept the secret for so long back in Roswell and everything was okay. And then Max saved Liz and told her the truth, it all went to hell from there. You'd think that I'd be afraid to say anything to anyone. Well, I am, but this is Fandom. It seems like the rules are different here."

"But I guess I'm telling you because I can do it on my terms, if that makes sense. It's because I'm choosing to share a confidence, not because I accidently took a walk through your dreams, or because you smelled that my blood was different." She pushed her hair back out of her face. "Which, I might add, is how Peter and Angel found out. And as for trusting you, it seems like a lot of people do around here, and they respect your opinion on stuff. I didn't think I'd be taking too much of a chance to tell you."

"The rules are different here," Parker said carefully. "Partly because this place is so isolated, I think. Six or seven realities touching in one place; you could leave your own world behind, if you needed to. So that makes it easier. And people here understand about the weird. That helps too." She smiled at Isabel, widening her eyes. "Well, now I know who I don't need to worry about slipping to. Not that I would, it's not the sort of thing that comes up in casual conversation. And I hope I can live up to your trust on this." She let out a slow breath. "Is there anything I can do to help you?" She rolled her eyes. "Aside from lending you some shoes or nail polish?"

"This does seem to be a special place. And it is good to know that there's a way to escape, not that I ever could. I couldn't leave the others behind." She tilted her head and studied Parker, "I don't think I have anything to worry about. You seem incredibly loyal to your friends, I like to think that you count me as one."

"As for needing your help?" She ducked her head and looked a bit embarrassed, "I'm okay for the moment, but down the road it'll be nice to have a girl to talk to. There's some alien things to consider before I go out for any test drives. And somehow that's not something I could talk to Peter or Angel about."

"Oh, lord. Of course. And no, god no, don't go to Angel with that. It's so TMI-- he knows when you've, uh, been with someone anyway. And then he looks at you funny." Parker grinned, shaking her head. "Don't worry, if you need help on that front, I'll be here." She rolled her eyes. "Evidently I have a reputation for that. You wouldn't be the first to ask for clarification on that front from me."

Isabel rolled her eyes as well and grinned. "Don't worry, I have the basics down. Just not the hands on experience, but I am mostly human after all. Sex ed is sex ed." She shrugged, "There's just the little matter of these memory flashes that I think I'll be able to both give and receive. That could a bit hard to explain."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-02-28 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Ack. Yes, I would think." She tilted her head. "'Sorry, sweetie, I'm getting a migraine from your memories?' Or, 'you know, you just imagined that. I'm just that good.'" Parker grinned.

Isabel snickered, "Well Liz did talk about seeing stars. Tell me that's not an ego boost."

Parker chuckled. "And I gotta say, the coloring thing, and molecular telekinesis-- that doesn't suck." She grinned. "Right. Alien Princess from Another Planet, Welcome to Earth, from the Queen of Visa. We have many men worth conquering, great clothes, and chocolate. Stay as long as you like."

"Nope, definitely useful. And fun. And occasionally highly practical. Laundry is never a problem." Isabel laughed, "Thanks Parker, that's probably the best welcome I've ever had to planet Earth."
