Room 406, evening

Isabel had taken one look at the snow that morning and decided it was a day to stay in and relax. She'd made it to her classes, been more then social and had had an entertaining day at work, followed by a handwavey evening keeping Xander company.

As far as first weeks of school went. This had been one of the better ones.

The door was open.

Cimorene had been walking around the school, trying to get an idea where everything was, and possibly looking for someone named Isabel. "Hello?"

Isabel set aside the book she'd been reading and smiled at the new face. "Hi! Can I help you?"

"Possibly. Are you Isabel?" Cimorene asked, shoving her circlet back from where it had started moving down her head.

"That's me," she nodded. "Are you my missing little sibling? Princess Cimorene?"

"Pleasure to meet you, and yes, that would be." Cimorene dipped a small curtsy. "And I wasn't missing. I knew exactly where I was, it just wasn't here."

"It's nice to meet you as well," Isabel replied, nodding in reply. "Was it some place interesting at least?"

"Not especially. There was a lot of trees and rocks, and a stream for some change of pace." Cimorene said, still not sitting down, but glancing around, curious.

"Come on in," she said, waving towards the extra bed/couch. "Make yourself comfortable. Where were you traveling from?"

Cimorene sat down on the offered bed. "Linderwall, but it's tiny and no one cares." Well, there were people who cared, Cimorene was just not one of them. "I've been working for the dragon Kazul for the past year, though."

"A dragon?" That was new.

Cimorene nodded. "She's the king of the dragons now. I started out as her princess but a king doesn't need one, so I got promoted to Chief Cook and Librarian. The princes and knights stopped trying to rescue me as much, as well."

"That's a good thing right? The lack of rescue attempts?" Isabel smiled, realizing that she was going to have to introduce her knight to Cimorene.

Cimorene nodded. "They get bothersome after a while, and some of the dumber ones just can't understand that I don't want to be rescued. So, how did I get assigned an older sister? Because I already have six..."

"But are any of the here? It's school policy," she explained. "I'm here to answer any questions you might have and to help you adjust to the weirdness that is Fandom."

"Thankfully? No." Cimorene said, trying not to let her low opinion of her older sisters show too much. "Why would you say it's weird? Other than the indoor plumbing and strange boxes..."

"You might find the lack of dragons strange," Isabel shrugged. "Other people have a hard time coping with the fact that there are people here from any number of different times and different realities."

She picked up a picture of taken this past Christmas of her, Max and Michael. "Those are my brothers. At home. Except there's a version of my one brother here as well. And he's three years younger then I'm used to."

Cimorene glanced down at the photo. "That's a very well done likeness." Yes, she found this more shocking then the alternate universes. "And that actually makes sense."

"It's called a photograph," she explained. "There's a device that captures the likeness. Then it gets transfered to the paper."

"You've experienced something like it?"

Cimorene ran through everything she had encountered in the past year. "I don't think so. We have painters for that sort of thing. How does it work?"

"Oh? The camera? I honestly couldn't tell you," Isabel replied. "I meant have you experienced people from other realities? Or different times?"

"I haven't." Cimorene admitted. "But it does make sense. Wouldn't it be too selfish to imagine we're the only ones and there are no other versions of us or even our worlds?"

She nodded, "Exactly. But some people have a hard time dealing with it. At least at first."

"Do you know what classes you have?"

"Basic Computing, Public Speaking, and My Country. I missed the first two this week, I hope the teachers don't mind too much." Cimorene recited the classes from memory.

"I don't know who's teaching those classes. But in general most teachers don't have a problem if you miss a class. As long as you don't make a habit of it," Isabel assured her.

"I'm not planning on it. It sounds like the classes are at least interesting. Though...I've already learned some math, from the court economist before father found out. Apparently, that wasn't appropriate either." Cimorene rolled her eyes. "What are you taking?"

"Math was inappropriate?" She had a feeling Cimorene was going to be learning lots of inappropriate behavior in Fandom.

"I've got Criminal Justice, World Mythologies, Spycraft and Lawyering Up. They'll keep me busy enough."

"For a princess, yes. That's why I ran away. My sisters liked it though." Cimorene sounded like she couldn't understand how they could be happy with that. "That sounds really interesting. Do you get to actually spy on people?"

Isabel couldn't understand it either. "Not that I'm aware of. But it's always a possibility."

"That sounds like a very interesting class." Cimorene said confidently. "So what else should I know about this school?"

Cheerfully, Isabel filled Cimorene in about the things to know in Fandom. Things like squirrels, and J,GoB and how the Perk had the best coffee. But somehow, oddly enough, she never mentioned wizards.
