Room 406, morning to early afternoon

After finally finding handwavily talking to Chris late yesterday, Isabel had finally gone back to her room.

Sleep wasn't an option for a lot of reasons.

Instead she grabbed her laptop and started to google.

It was amazing what you could find in some of the more obscure corners of the internet. Hours later she had pages of notes and print-outs. Of course since Isabel had pretty much no experience with magic, most of it was so much gibberish.

It was time to call in people who had a clue.

"Oh god, I didn't even think," she said with a sad laugh. "Yeah, not so much fun is it?"

Leaning into his shoulder, Isabel closed her eyes for a minute. She was tired after minimal sleep over the last two days. "We've got a plan though. If it works, we'll get him back."

"Yeah, but you didn't know. I didn't care. There's the big difference," Anders said gently. "And you've got me here for you if you need me, you know that, right? Call me Moral Support Guy."

"I should have known something was up," Isabel told him. "Just by the facial hair alone. It was wrong on so many levels." She felt wrong for joking. But just for a minute she wanted to pretend everything would be okay.

Anders wanted to tell her everything would be okay, even if he had no way to say for sure -- he was just stubborn like that and wanted to believe it, but he didn't want to promise something he had no way of personally seeing through.

". . . facial hair?" Man, how come he never got the visual clues?

"Facial hair. Really, really bad facial hair." The laughter was a bit teary.

"Oh, big sis," Anders said in lieu of laughing, because if he did it'd be a bit hysterical. Instead, he just hugged her again.

"I'm sorry," she said. "I'm just tired. And stressed. And I just want this to be over."

"Is there anything I can do?" He squeezed her shoulder gently. "Get you ice cream, a shoulder to lean on, anything?"

"I don't have to meet up with Johnny until later," Isabel told him. "So a shoulder to lean on for a while would be really appreciated."

"Then that's what you've got until I have to go to work, at least," Anders promised.

"The timing is perfect then," she replied, taking his hand and heading over to the bed. "That's about when I have to go."

"But between now and then, you can fill me in on the first week of the season."

"Oh, man," Anders said. "Lemme tell you, for one thing, it is so frakking weird to see Joe Torre in a Dodger uniform!"

"I can only imagine," Isabel smiled as she took a seat. "Some things just don't compute. We're going to go to a game right?"

"Hell yes we're going to a game," Anders said. "Cracker Jacks and hot dogs are on me. Even the ice cream in the little plastic helmet-shaped cups. Weekend after next, maybe?"

"Yup. After England," she agreed. "It'll be fun."

"Much-needed fun," agreed Anders.

Isabel leaned against his shoulder. "So how much trouble do you think we can get into with Parker?"

Anders chuckled softly and kissed the top of her head. "I dunno, but you wanna make the most of it?"

"Damn straight," she yawned. "Can we just...be? Just for a little while?"

"You need rest," Anders said half to himself. "So yes. Absolutely. Just hang out and lean on me and just . . . yeah."

Isabel doubted she'd sleep, but the thought of a few hours of peace, with someone she trusted, made her smile. "Love you," she murmured.

"Love you too, big sis," Anders said softly, before lapsing into silence so she could get some kind of rest.
