Room 406, early morning
Mar. 23rd, 2006 07:03 amLast night? Definitely did not make the list of best nights ever. In fact, it was probably one of the worst. She'd been confronted by Veronica, and then had fought with Xander.
After Xander left, she'd stayed curled up on the bed for a long time. She tried to think rationally, something difficult to do when your heart was still racing and you couldn't swallow past the lump in your throat. Isabel supposed it was understandable that Veronica and Janet had assumed the worst. Everyone else at the school was so open about where they came from, what they could do. Hiding the truth about herself probably did make it seem like she was up to no good. Although she really wondered what they thought she was going to do considering that at first, all they knew she could do was remove spots from clothing.
Of course thinking about that made Isabel think about Xander and how badly she'd jumped all over him. Once she'd kind of calmed down she realized that she couldn't blame him. It was her own fault for being stupid in the first place. Surrounded by people with some really neat powers, how could he know that she wanted her own abilities kept quiet. She owed him an apology because she really had overreacted.
For a few minutes she had thought about calling someone to get some advice on how to deal with Veronica and Janet, but she didn't pick up the phone. She'd already unloaded enough on Parker this week, and Peter had his own problems to deal with right now. Angel would listen to her, but that would require moving to actually get the phone. And it was easier to sit on the bed and watch the room grow dark.
At some point she'd finally changed into pajamas and climbed into bed. She never fell asleep so she heard Xander return. Unsure of his mood, she stayed quiet, listening as his breathing eventually evened out and he fell asleep.
Light was finally starting to creep under the curtains when she climbed out of her bed and crossed to Xander's, perching carefully on the edge of it. "Hey," she said, with a gentle push to Xander's arm. "Wake up."

I've got this destiny that's supposed to take me away from this planet, from everything, almost everyone I know. And the thing of it is, if I could give powers up, if I could give the destiny up, I would. All I want is just some kind of normal life. That's what I was trying to have here," she finished quietly.
