Outside Ursa Major, afternoon

The weather was warmer then it had been, so Isabel spread her blanket on the grass outside the cabin, turned on her iPod and settled in for an afternoon of gossip magazines and romance novels.

Interruptions were more then welcome.

Meg stepped out of the cabin with the intention of getting some fresh air when she spotted Isabel. She walked over towards her and playfully nudged Isabel's side with her foot.

"Hey."

Isabel clutched at her side as if mortally wounded. "Hey! Watch it!"

Meg grinned. "Don't be a baby."

"Don't be a brute," Isabel grinned back. "I get it now. The whole nice girl thing is just a cover isn't it?"

"Pretty much," Meg said, nodding. "But don't tell anybody. Otherwise I'd have to kill you."

"My lips are sealed," she promised. "No killing necessary."

"Good. I wasn't sure how I'd go about it anyways," Meg joked. "And I wouldn't want to get Wyatt mad."

"Yeah. He tends to get cranky." Which was an understatement of epic proportions if everything she'd heard about what had happened when she'd been taken was correct.

"Yeah, that would be bad," Meg said. She sat down on the ground next to Isabel. "So how are you?"

"I'm doing my best impression of a sloth," Isabel smiled. "What do you think?"

Meg laughed. "That's what I've been doing too. I love watching everybody else go to class when I get to sleep in."

"The joy of being happy graduates. I'm at least trying to go for a run or something every day. Just so I don't turn into a complete slug." She looked up at the partly cloudy sky. "Plus I keep hoping that at some point we'll have bathing suit weather."

"Me too. It's really disappointing that it hasn't been warm enough yet," Meg said, frowning slightly. "I do love France though, cool weather or not."

"I know. I did some handwavey touristy stuff yesterday afternoon," Isabel said. "It's weird being in a place where everything is so old. You don't get that sense of time back in the states."

"You really don't," Meg agreed. "Have you ever been to France before?"

"No. The only time I'd been to Europe before this was when Anders and I went to visit Parker in Oxford back in April," she answered. "So I'm enjoying the opportunity to play tourist."

"That's cool. I've been to France a couple of times before," Meg said. "But this is the first time I've been to Mont St-Michel. My family usually stuck to Paris. For the shopping, you know."

"Oh now that must have been nice. I wonder if we should try and get down there for a day," Isabel pondered. "Since we're somewhat closer then we would have been if we were in Virginia."

"Yeah. Way, way, closer," Meg said, grinning. "It's still a couple of hours away though, if memory serves. My dad dragged me to Normandy before so I could get a history lesson. That was an afternoon to forget."

"You'd have rather been shopping?" Isabel laughed.

"Of course!" Meg said. "Isn't that what you'd rather do?"

"Most of the time," she admitted. "But I do enjoy the occasional museum. Yes, I'm a dork."

"Oh I like museums. I'm just not into war history," she said, making a face. "I really like looking at the old churches they have around here. They are so beautiful."

"I have a feeling Wyatt's going to be dragging me to see every medieval castle in the area," Isabel smiled. "Not that I'm complaining. I think it'll be cool. So far from what I've seen online some of the little towns off the beaten path are amazing."

"It'd be fun to go exploring," Meg said. "Of course in the back of my head I'm worried that the island would leave without me. Not that it would be entirely bad. I would definitely go to Paris to shop in that case."

"That wouldn't be a problem with you were with Wyatt and I," Isabel pointed out. "And Paris is supposed to be romantic. It'd be a shame to miss it."

"It would be a shame to pass it up," Meg agreed. She smiled. "This is definitely the best bit of Fandom weirdness that's ever happened."

"Yeah, and that's saying something," she agreed. "Given the sheer volume of weirdness that happens at this place."

Lana stopped back to collect some things and smiled at Isabel. "Comfortable?"

"Quite," Isabel grinned. "I can feel my brain cells getting nicely mushy."

"Until I start gibbering," she pointed out.

"Well, then we'll just pull you out of the sun and splash a little cold water on you, straighten you right up," Lana teased.

"Make me do a sudoku puzzle or something," Isabel chuckled. "To kick the brain back into gear."

"Absolutely," Lana agreed. "I'll store up some emergency Sudoku puzzles just to be prepared."

"There's a bookmarked site on my laptop. And an actual book of puzzles next to my bed," Isabel told her. "Yes, I can be a bit of a dork."

Lana laughed. "If you saw all the bookmarks on forensics on my laptop..."

"See now that's actually cool," she chuckled. "I've got all the gossip sites marked as well."

"Weeeeell..." Lana said, "Some people might be a little disturbed by some of the serial killer stuff..."

"Yeah, I could see where that would raise some eyebrows," Isabel nodded.

"No kidding," Lana said. "But really they're so interesting."

Isabel raised an eyebrow. "I'll take your word for it."

Lana laughed. "Thus the college choice."

"I get that," she nodded. "Are you looking forward to going there?"

Lana nodded herself. "Yeah," she said. "I really am. It's my dream college, working with my, well, with my heroes in the field... I couldn't ask for much more."

"That's cool. I think UNLV is going to work out for me. And Vegas will certainly give me some practical experience," Isabel said.
