Room 406, all day

It hadn't been a bad last week in Fandom. Between being social, seals, presents, and reality TV, it was certainly memorable. Even if the good-byes weren't so much fun.

There wasn't much left to pack. But Isabel was taking her time doing it.

The door was open.

[OOC: Good-bye post. *sniffles* Assume handwavey phone calls. ETA: Random bouts of SP for the rest of the afternoon due to RL.]

Jen seemed genuinely surprised by the offer. "Thanks," she said after a few moments. "I might take you up on that."

Isabel noticed the surprise. "I mean. I like you and I wish I'd had more of a chance to get to know you. Unfortunately this Spring was kind of one crisis after another and it made me hibernate a bit."

"One crisis after another? I know that feeling," Jen commiserated. It had, after all, been pretty much the defining trait of her year in Silver Hills. "It's okay. It's not like you're going a thousand years away or anything, right?"

The joke was punctuated by a laugh, but it was a fragile attempt.

"Somehow, I think you do," she nodded. "And no, I'll just be a dimension or two over." At least for the moment. Who knows what the future would bring. "And I have a Bridge phone. So you'll always be able to contact me."

This whole 'having friends' thing was still a pretty new concept to Jen. Okay, not new necessarily, but it had been so long since she'd really had the leisure time to have friends outside of the daily grind of duty and, you know, mortal danger that she still wasn't quite sure what to do with the handful she'd made in Fandom.

Which was probably why what she said was "If I have to, yeah, I will."

"Because it's such a hardship," Isabel teased gently. "Picking up the phone.

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm from the year 3000," Jen replied with a completely straight face. "Picking up the phone is like the barefoot in the snow uphill both ways way to communicate."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Let me guess, you communicate with the power of your mind?" she asked with a grin.

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Uh huh," Jen said, tapping her Chronomorpher and still totally deadpan. "It's like how all I have to do to go to work is imagine it and I'm there without even leaving the house."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Isabel snickered. "I hope you change out of your robe and slippers before you do that."

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Jen snorted, and now she cracked a smile. "Do I look like a robe and slippers girl to you?"

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Nah," she said after a moment's consideration. "Probably flannel pants and a sweatshirt."

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Even that sounds luxurious," Jen remarked. "Considering I spent a year with only four changes of clothes WTF wardrobe department. More like sweatpants and a tank top, though."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Seriously?" Isabel asked, appalled. "Now I know what to get you for Christmas."

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Jen shrugged. "Doing odd jobs didn't cover much more than getting us fed, you know? It's okay. I can afford clothes now. Even the Pizza Planet paycheck goes a lot further when it's not supporting five people."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
"True enough," she nodded. "But I'll still find you something nice."

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
"You don't have to, honestly," Jen began to protest, but smiled. "But thanks."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're welcome," Isabel smiled. "So I guess this is it till you visit?"
