Room 406, all day

It hadn't been a bad last week in Fandom. Between being social, seals, presents, and reality TV, it was certainly memorable. Even if the good-byes weren't so much fun.

There wasn't much left to pack. But Isabel was taking her time doing it.

The door was open.

[OOC: Good-bye post. *sniffles* Assume handwavey phone calls. ETA: Random bouts of SP for the rest of the afternoon due to RL.]

"Well then," Anders said, and turned around (for no real reason) as he stripped the shirt off, so the tattoo, now mostly healed up, was visible.

Isabel couldn't help the small involuntary shudder that ran through her at the sight of the tattoo. Some memories were still painful over a year later.

"It's healed."

"Yeah," Anders said, then fell silent for a moment, realizing the implications. "Yeah."

He turned around and tucked his thumbs into his belt, posing for the camera. "Ready when you are -- glad I got a chance to get a tan our last couple of stops, too."

"Have they seen it yet?" she asked, knowing that it was important to Anders.

"You look very fit and tan."

Isabel checked the viewscreen on the camera and decided she'd send a copy to Bel and Phoebe as well. They'd appreciate it.

"Very nice."

"No, it's a surprise," Anders replied. "They'll see it when I get there -- they have no idea I was even getting it."

He preened a little bit and tried to peer at the camera. "Lemme see!"

"They'll like it. I'm sure."

Isabel stepped back and tried to hold the camera away from him. Just because.

"What're the magic words?"

Anders said nothing, but gave her the puppydog face. Just one last time, to see if it worked.

"Or there's always the non-vocal words," Isabel said, handing over the camera with a laugh.

"Hey, it worked," Anders said, pleased. "Ooooh. Yeah, that came out pretty good. Should I call you when I get called to do a shirtless photo spread for some major magazine?"

And that would be Isabel's well duh! face. "Absolutely. And then I'd want an autographed copy."

"With glitter pen, just for you," Anders agreed readily.

"And one for Parker," she said. "So she doesn't get jealous."

"What do you take me for?" Anders asked, mock-scandalized. "Of course I'd get one for her!"

"Just making sure."

Isabel finally let her attention focus on the cupcakes. "You brought us road trip food?"

"What?" Anders laughed. "You thought I wouldn't? It's like tradition!"

"I didn't want to get my hopes up. But it looks like you brought us a lot," she said hopefully. "I think we need to taste test now. Just to make sure they're perfect."

"Big sis, I'm wounded," Anders said, laying it on rather thick about looking aghast. "Would you honestly expect me to send you away with anything less than perfect cupcakes?"

Isabel looked equally serious. "I know you wouldn't want to. But accidents happen sometimes. The salt instead of sugar. A minute or two too long in the oven. It could ruin the whole cupcake experience."

"I'm wounded by your lack of faith." Anders put a hand on his forehead and pretended to faint. "Except I don't mind you trying the cupcakes ahead of time. Never forgive myself if I did frak 'em up and sent you off with faulty food."

"This is less about test tasting," Isabel grinned. "And more about needing a sugar fix at the moment. Packing's hard work."

"Goof," Anders said affectionately. "You could've asked me to help."

Of course, his way of helping was likely to have included something along the lines of sitting on her suitcase and obstinately refusing to budge, or let her put anything in it.

"Because you would have enjoyed packing my delicates for me?" she teased. "Or y would you have unpacked whatever I'd packed when my back was turned?"

Anders coughed. "Well, uh, I'm not touching those . . ."

"But everything else would have wound up back in my closet," Isabel laughed. "Which gives me an amusing mental image of what I would have been wearing while driving through Kentucky."
