Even though there had been some discussion of wedding plans, Isabel had managed not to get too carried away with the planning and had instead spent the last week enjoying time with Wyatt and her family.

Unfortunately though, Wyatt did have a family of his own to get back to. Which meant it was time for him to head off to San Francisco. Isabel was trying hard not to think about how that could go wrong. After dinner with her family they took a ride out into the desert, partly to see the show but mostly because good-byes, even if they were only going to be temporary, were easier without a crowd.

"You can't," she said sadly. "You've got this whole destiny thing to figure out. And you need to be home to do it. Not here, without a demon or evil creature in sight." At least not any non-human ones.

"It'll work out. It has to. We have Miss Victoria to look forward to."

Wyatt couldn't help but chuckle. "I have a feeling she'll come back in time and make sure everything works out," he said.

"Just like the movie?" Isabel smiled. "Complete with a picture that fades until we kiss at some dance?"

"Exactly," Wyatt said. "You're my density."

"For once I have a destiny that doesn't make me want to run and hide," she said, moving in for a soft kiss.

"Hence the not wanting to let go," Wyatt agreed.

"It's temporary." A long, four years at minimum temporary, but temporary. "And absence makes the heart grow fonder."

"And it's not like we won't see each other or talk or email or whatever," Wyatt said, bringing his hand up to cup her cheek. He told himself that repeatedly, but it didn't make the thought of leaving any easier.

"That's what the Bridge phones are for. And the wedding will be soon," Isabel pointed out, leaning into his hand. "And I have a twelve hour drive to Vegas and then I'll have to move all my stuff in. I was hoping you'd be able to help with that maybe?"

"Sure!" Wyatt said. And if that gave him the opportunity to demonstrate to any guys in Isabel's dorm that she had a loving boyfriend, so much the better.

"I was hoping you'd say that," she replied. "Just remember to be charming to my roommate."

"Of course," Wyatt grinned. "I'll make sure she adores me so she won't have any problem with my visiting frequently."

"We'll have to bribe her with lots of chocolate. Or coffee. Or whatever her vice of choice it."

"You find out, and I will dig up the finest San Francisco treats the city has to offer," Wyatt agreed.

"And I will whammy any dates on the package to something that makes a little more sense," Isabel chuckled. "Because I think something dated 2023 would be just a little confusing."

"Good idea," Wyatt said. "And if I slip up and bring something that doesn't exist yet, I can just claim it's a sample of an upcoming product."

"You've got special sources. That works," she agreed. "You also have a private plane. It'll be the only way to the explain the quick trips between San Francisco and Vegas."

"I'm your rich, playboy boyfriend," Wyatt said.

"Only not so much of a playboy. Not anymore." Isabel? Possessive and a touch jealous? Maybe a bit.

"And my friends at my old school are never going to let me hear the end of it," Wyatt said with a mock groan.

"Well you'll just have to tell them she's a hot blonde that keeps you busy," she grinned. "And on occasion wears you out."

"And how," Wyatt said. Then he hugged Isabel fiercely. "I'm going to miss you being there when I wake up so much."

"I know," Isabel nodded into his shoulder. "I sleep so much better when I'm with you. And I love waking up all wrapped around you."

"Weekends, breaks, and summer vacation," Wyatt sighed.

"And the occasional special deal on Portalocity fares. Maybe I'll turn up to surprise you once in a while." It wouldn't be the same. But they'd survive. And it would make the times they were together that much more special.
