Roswell, New Mexico - evening

Isabel was still a bit disappointed that Wyatt's spring break was happening the week after hers. But she had to admit, she was enjoying the chance to just relax with her family in Roswell. Besides, she had a weekend in San Francisco to look forward to.

After a day spent helping Liz decorate her and Max's new apartment, Isabel finally returned home and checked her messages and her email.

She might...possibly...maybe...stop laughing by the time she saw Chris and Johnny at graduation.

But there was a good chance she might not.

Still chuckling, Isabel flipped open the novel she was reading and settled into relax for the night.

When he got the email from Savannah, Wyatt immediately called Isabel. "Tell me Savannah sent you the link, too," he said, not even waiting for her to say hello.

"She did. I owe her big," Isabel laughed. "The dress! The heels! The singing! It was hilarious."

"I am making so many copies of this," Wyatt said. "And hiding them so he'll never find them all."

"I can probably stash a few copies here with people," she offered evilly. "I know my mom would love to watch it again."

"You showed it to your mom?" Wyatt laughed. "I knew there was a reason I loved you."

"I had to. She heard me howling with laughter and wanted to know what was so funny," Isabel explained. "She was highly amused. Although I probably shouldn't tell Chris that should I?"

"Not until he meets her," Wyatt snickered. "That would be perfect."

"She'll have to ask for Starina's autograph." Picturing Chris flailing about had Isabel laughing once more.

"I am so glad I managed to get through my time in Fandom without being bitten."

"Don't jinx it!" Wyatt said. "Everything else from Fandom follows us."

"Not everything. The zombies stayed on the island." Isabel frowned, thinking of Savannah's email. "Which, good. But at the same time, I wouldn't mind beating something evil up."

"I can take you demon hunting this weekend," Wyatt offered. "I really don't understand why, but San Francisco is crawling with them."

"There's a secret passage from the Underworld that ends just under the Golden Gate Bridge?" It was a crazy theory, but really it wasn't any crazier then some of the other things she'd seen. "I'd like that though. It could be fun and I like watching your back. But we can't go if we have company."

"Company?" Wyatt said. "And I like watching you back, too. And your front."

"So I've noticed. I'll be sure to wear something low-cut on Friday."

Isabel knew that the odds of Victoria or any other weetiny children turning up on Saturday morning were pretty much non-existent. Still she couldn't help hoping.

"Friday night is Fandom High's prom. You know what's happened after that for the last two years."

"Oh, right," Wyatt said. "Now that's definitely something I wouldn't mind following us from Fandom."

"Except we won't be able to keep her the way you could a stray puppy." Not that they were in any position to be parents to a six year old. But who needed logic?

"Maybe I could find a spell to keep her here," Wyatt mused.

"And keep her from some other version of you and I in some other reality? That's not fair." Tempting. But not fair.

"Point," Wyatt said. "We'll just have to work on making our own Victoria then. It'll take lots of practice."

"Lots. Which we could have been getting now if our breaks had been at the same time." Yes, someone was still grumbly about the scheduling conflict.

"So totally not fair," Wyatt agreed. "I wanted to blow off classes this week, but I had midterms."

"I know. And you're such a conscientious student. How are they going?" she asked.

Parker needed something resembling good news. Might as well phone a friend, right? She wasn't going to find it on her own.

"Shouldn't you be sleeping?" Isabel asked as she answered the phone after recognizing the number on caller ID.

"Probably," Parker admitted, squinting at the clock. 4am. "Frak it, I can't sleep. I knew you'd be awake. How are things state-side?"

"Break is mellow. I was helping Liz decorate the apartment today," Isabel replied. "And then I came home to lots of messages about wacky Fandom hijinks."

"Oh good, I could use a laugh. What is it this time? Transformations, possessions, wild little ponies stampeding through town?" Parker settled back on her bed with a smile.

"Gremlin bites. And there's video so we can share in the wackiness." She pulled her laptop over and quickly sent Parker links to the scene from the Perk and from Caritas. "Check your email, I just sent you links."

That sound would be Parker nearly waking up half of Dolphin Hall with her laughter. "Oh. My. God...."

"It's a thing of complete and absolute beauty," Isabel laughed, replaying the video herself for the twelfth time. "Wyatt's never going to let Chris live this down."

"This does top most other weirdness that those two have witnessed from each other," Parker admitted, trying to remember the last time there was gremlin strangeness. "Wasn't there something with cowboys that almost tops this?"

"That was last year. They were gay cowboys."

"That was it," Parker said with immense satisfaction. "God, I am so glad I was only gremlin-bit once, and I think Marty burned the negatives. Ha."

"At the risk of having one of the obnoxious little monsters turn up here," Isabel said warily, "I managed to avoid it the entire time I was there."

"You are so much luckier than anyone else I know," Parker told her in disgust. "Although maybe you're balancing out Marty and a couple other people... this reminds me. Must call Daisy. It's baseball season. He's always good for a nice long babble at this time of year."

"Very true. I wonder if he moved from the couch all week."

Isabel snickered, remembering one other person who was regular gremlin bait.

"Speaking of other people that got bit a lot, Savannah said Anakin got bit. He thought he was a little girl, sang show tunes, and hugged her."

More laughter. Quite a bit more.

"Tell me there are photos!" Because Parker still has a screen-saver of Annie the Vampire Slayer. "Please, please, please say there are photos!"

"Unfortunately no," she said woefully. Isabel would love to have one to throw darts at.

"Nuts. Ah well. At least the grand tradition of Jedi lunch meat continues." Parker grinned into the phone, mood much lighter. "Sometimes I don't miss that place at all... how's the rest of your week going?"

"Relaxed and mellow. I'm still annoyed that Wyatt's break is next week. But he's going to come get me on Friday and I'll spend the weekend up there," Isabel replied.

"But don't think you're getting off that easily. What's up with you that you're up so damn late?"

Parker sighed, reminded, and rubbed the back of her neck. "Did you ever have a perfect plan fall to pieces at the last second, due to unforeseen circumstances?" She made a face, letting her hand drop to her side. "That was my week." After a minute's debate, she added, "Dealing with Lyle."

"Christ, can't you just kill him?" she asked, only half jokingly. She'd never met Lyle but hated him anyway.

Parker winced, then started pacing the floor again. "Um. No." She debated a moment, then said, "I was trying to get him arrested for murder. The evidence disappeared--" when he torched his mom's house. "The cops might have been paid off," might have, definitely were. "And I have no idea where the hell I go from here."

"I don't know," Isabel admitted. "I'm not good with subtle. I'd just as soon have Wyatt leave him in Mongolia or something."

"He'd just find his way back out and kill some tigers along the way," Parker said, rubbing her head. "GOd. Anyway, yeah. I had him dead to rights-- what a phrase-- and he did an end-run around me. Only good part is he doesn't know it was me." She sighed. "And I'll be working with him in 8 days."

"That sucks. On the bright side? At some point karma's going to catch up with him?" Yes, Isabel was the eternal optimist. "Maybe you'll be able to watch when it happens?"

"I can but dream." Parker sighed. "Anyway. This was a good pick me up, for the middle of a bad week."
