Isabel tried not to think about the fact that things were quiet for the moment. Quiet was good. Quiet was wonderful in fact. But thinking about it too much was the surest way to wind up with the demon of the week shimmering in to break another table.

Instead she was going to focus on the fact that Victor was out of town, Victoria was sleeping, and she and Wyatt had the house to themselves for the night.

Just in time for the The Meandering Deceased finale.

Wyatt jumped over the back of the couch and settled down next to Isabel, bowl of popcorn in hand. "I think I'm going to start telling demons to look at the flowers before I vanquish them," he said.

"I think the demons are slightly more sane then that poor kid was," Isabel replied, reaching for a handful of popcorn.

"I don't know, some of them are pretty crazy," Wyatt said. "But then again, that kid was creepy."

"Creepy is good. When it's on TV." God only knows they'd dealt with enough creepy in real life over the years. "She was still a better villain then the Governor."

"They probably would've gotten along great," Wyatt snorted. "They both wanted pet zombies."

"What's wrong with a puppy?" Isabel asked. "They're cute. They're cuddly and they're not going to eat you."

"Have you ever seen a hellhound puppy?" Wyatt said. "They're cute, but they'll bite your head off."

"I have not crossed that particular experience off on my bucket list," she admitted with a grin. "And it can wait honestly."

Wyatt snickered. "Unless Miss Victoria decides to conjure one up as a pet one day," he said.

"Then we'll have to convince her to trade it in for a nice cocker spaniel." And then they could send the hellhound to the Hyperion.

"We can count ourselves lucky if she never conjures a dragon like I did," Wyatt said.

They were probably going to have to keep a close eye on what she watched on TV.

Perfect timing Parker, the show was over and Isabel needed the distraction.

"You better be calling me from the beach," Isabel said as soon as the call connected. "I don't care if it's the middle of the night."

Parker laughed, strappy sandals and a drink in one hand, phone in the other.

"I'm at a bonfire party," she admitted. A steel drum band could be heard very vaguely in the background as she walked down the beach. "Does that count?"

"Absolutely. So what's up in the life I'm living vicariously?"

Because happy or not, everyone needed a daydream.

"I got here for Carnivale and I didn't leave," Parker admitted. "I was checking into some stuff for 7G, and the guys wanted a party. There was bail money involved later, and also? A jaguar. Fortunately no one was eaten in the making of this disaster."

"And now I'm picturing the guys as characters in The Hangover," Isabel admitted. "Did Mike Tyson make an appearance?"

"Thankfully not, or I'd have had to kill them. The jaguar wound up being donated to the national zoo," Parker reported. "They're off racing bikes now. For science!" Punch the air!

"Following proper science procedure I'm sure," she laughed. Someone followed Overly Honest Methods on Tumblr. "Bikes were chosen based on participants favorite color."

"The horrible thing is that they really did, and yes. 'We went off-roading to test the integrity of the tires, and Broot's kidney integrity.'" Poor Broots. He hated getting shanghaied into these things. "I decided Science didn't require me to witness the inevitable injuries. So I'm taking in the music and the local scenery." She grinned wickedly. "Some of it is gorgeous."

Isabel snickered. "Somehow I don't think you're talking about the white sandy beaches."

"They're a good backdrop for all the tan bodies?" Parker grinned wickedly. "Jarod's taken to ditching his shirt a lot so I'll pay attention to him."

"Now you have me wondering if my folks need some grand-baby time. Wyatt and I could head on down for a quick visit." It really was a tempting idea.
