Room 215, Early evening

Opening the door to Jack's room was no trouble, even without a key. A half second's concentration and the lock clicked open under her hand. Jack bounded in as soon as she opened the door and ran over to the plant. Isabel laughed and rolled her eyes. "It's fine. You were gone what? Less then twenty-four hours?"

She set a small brown bag on the bed and sat down to wait for Cedric to meet her.

Parker's lips thinned. "I was 'niced' for Prom by Drusilla, and I watched her make Broots manic-depressive and Jack schizophrenic, among others. I don't care how useful or benevolent Jedi intentions are. Using it for anything other than life-and-death is too much." She sighed. "Anyway. Rory took Anakin's side, I got insulting, Anakin got insulting, it all went to hell. Rory and I are talking now, but I don't think it's a good idea for me to be in the same room with Skywalker for, oh. Ever."

"And Alex was killed because Tess screwed with his head one two many times," she said flatly. "I don't like it any more then you do. Trust me." Isabel's lips quirked in a rueful smile. "Considering how strong willed all three of you are? Why am I not surprised. Still, at least your talking now and Anakin is only here for the rest of the summer."

"True." Parker continued to pet Jack for another minute. "I'm glad you get it. I couldn't exactly tell Jack about all of this. And when I told Jarod what I could, we got off into side-issues that freak him out. So, thanks."

"No, you can't." Isabel tilted her head back and closed her eyes. "And don't mention it. It's in the friend code." She sighed. "Why does life have to be complicated? Do you think other high school students in other schools worry about stuff like this? Or is it just a Fandom thing?"

"Fandom," Parker said instantly. "I never had these conversations at my last two schools." She sighed. "And life was simpler, albeit more miserable, sometimes." She gently picked up a limp Jack and carried him back over to Isabel. "I should get going. If I don't make a pre-emptive strike on Jarod's peace of mind, he'll start cross-examining me about this weekend, and I'd rather---"

And the hand goes over the mouth again.

"We have to take the good with the bad I guess," Isabel said as she took Jack and settled him in her lap. She snickered. "I can only imagine what you'd rather. Don't let me keep you. But at some point when you have time? I have some news of my own to tell you."
