Meerkat Cabin, Isabel's Alcove, After lunch

After lunch Isabel faced the fact that packing couldn't be put off any longer. Her bag was open on her bed as she sorted through her clothes.

"In a bit. Mom wants me back in Roswell. She claims she's forgetting what I look like," Isabel explained. "And I won't forget Faithful. One alien on a string. Just for you."

Alanna blinked down at her cat. "Guh?" Faithful looked innocent, really. "You don't have to really, he's spoiled enough as is."

"Don't worry about it," Isabel assured her. "First off, it's not going to be a live alien. I'm just planning on making a run on my friend's mom's shop and bringing back tacky souveniers for everyone. Secondly I owe him. He kept me company for a while last night. I needed it."

"Oh good." Alanna sounded very relieved. "What happened last night?"

"You thought I was going to bring back a real little green man for him to play with?" she asked with a chuckle before shrugging. "Nothing really happened. Except me thinking too much."

"It's Fandom." Alanna answered simply. "Something wrong?"

"No, not really," Isabel said. "It's just weird to be going back there, and back to keeping things secret."

Alanna nodded. "I know the feeling. Look at it this way: it's only temporary, right?"

"It's supposed to be," she said. "Right now the plan is for me to come back a week from Saturday."

"See? There you go, only a little over a week." Faithful purred.

"I know," Isabel laughed. "It's just going to be a very long week. And I'm sure I'm going to miss something fun and exciting happening around here."

"Oh they were fun," she said with a grin. "Greg and I had to take out one that tasted like peach. I'm sorry you missed them."
