Meerkat Cabin, Isabel's Alcove, Tuesday Night

Despite several days of frustration and heightened emotions, Isabel was actually happy when she dropped her bag onto her bed. Yes, her visit back to Roswell had ended several days early. Yes, there are hurt feelings all around and that is going to have to be dealt with at some point. But for now, she's home. That's enough for now.

[ooc: Open! And I'm home!!!! It's several days early but small kidlet with high fever + heat wave + camper /= OTP. This is not necessarily a bad thing.]

Parker knocked on the wall next to Izzy's alcove, after getting her TXT message ("Coming home tonight. Don't ask."), Ben & Jerry's ice cream and spoons in hand. The Kahlua came along too.

"Knock, knock, knock."

"Oh thank god," Isabel said as she finished unpacking her bag. "A friendly face."

"I come bearing frozen mood enhancers, and highly complex sugars that can make memories of camping go away," Parker said, offering her a spoon. "How was it? Why are you back so soon? I know it sucked, but how much?"

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm all for the ice cream, but I'll have to pass on the booze tonight. No matter how much I'd love to forget the whole trip," Isabel said as she took the spoon and dug in. "My parents finally realized that keeping us trapped in a campground wasn't doing anything to improve communication and brought us back to Roswell this morning. I pleaded with my mom to let me change me flight. I think she felt guilty for blindsiding me with everything when I go home so she said yes." She swallowed a scoop of ice cream and sighed. "Words do not begin to describe how much it sucked. And there I was, trapped in the middle."

"What, precisesly, is Max's problem? Aside from being gutless?" Parker demanded. "What does he think your parents will do if they find out he's an alien king who got a girl pregnant?" She ate a bite of ice-cream, then pointed the spoon at Isabel. "I bet it's the second part that has him freaking out, doesn't it?"

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Honestly? I don't know. I think after Alex, he's afraid of putting anyone else in a position to be hurt," Isabel explained. "Which is pretty ridiculous. They're our parents. Of course they'd be in the line of fire if someone came after us. Maybe he's afraid they won't understand, that they'll reject us. I know that's my fear. I saw it happen in living color during that detention nightmare." She smirked at the mention of the pregnancy. "I'm not sure. I mean, he just managed to beat armed robbery charges. Admitting he'd knocked someone up would be much easier to deal with."

"Idiot. Who made your brother king, anyway? No offense, but he doesn't sound up to the job." Parker sighed and offered the carton to Isabel. "I get why you two are scared to tell them, but... they'll be safer if they know. Whether they have problems with the reality or not, at least they'd recognize danger signs." She studied Isabel, looking sober. "How was the rest of it? Or was it all Max and your parents and too much sun?"

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
"It was hereditary, apparently." Isabel shrugged and took the carton. "Things seem to be relatively quiet at the moment so I'm not going to push things. But if that changes, we're going to have to." She stabbed at the ice cream with her spoon. "It was all family, all the time. Mostly I spent a lot of time hiking by myself in search of a cell signal. But I did make a quick stop at Amy's store before I left. I brought you something." Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a candle holder. "I would have brought you a t-shirt, but somehow I just couldn't get that mental image to work."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
"This is the most wonderfully tacky thing I've ever seen," Parker said, putting her spoon down and picking up the candle holder to admire it. "Relative? Or just an acquaintance?"

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
"It's from Roswell, tacky is what we do," she chuckled. "That might be a distant cousin. It's so hard to keep track these days."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Miss one family reunion and you have no idea what they're doing," Parker said with a grin, setting the gift down and taking another spoonful of ice cream. "I'm glad you're back, though. I'm *not* sorry you missed this weekend. God, that was insane."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't know. Mass larygitis and demons versus annoying brother and frustrated parents." Sadly, Isabel really did have to think which would be worse. "It's a tough call. But I am so glad to be back here."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Jarod and Cedric are going to be okay, but... Way tooo damn scary." She thought about it. "On the other hand, I'd take Fandom over my family too, so I guess it evens out. Are you going to see your boyfriend, if he's still alive after last night?"

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
"I found a wifi signal when I was waiting to change planes. I downloaded radio." Isabel sighed, "The mind boggles. But yes, I'm going to go look for him and stop by Cedric's just to see for myeself. You promise Jarod's doing okay?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Heh. With Becky, Rory, Anakin, *and* Callisto out to get him, he should get a medal if he makes it through the summer." Parker sighed. "And yes. Jarod's got less than twenty stitches." She stabbed at the ice cream with her spoon. "He wouldn't tell me how many. He's got a huge bandage on his forehead, and he's fine. Just fine." No, she doesn't sound like she believes it.

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
"As long as it's just stitches he'll be fine," Isabel said. "Of course you still reserve the right to be mad at him for putting himself in danger. Then again, we've both been guilty of the same, so I suppose we can't really complain."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe, but I was going *nuts*, and I've never worried him as badly as I was worried Sunday night-- he always found out afterward, when I was fine, damnit." Parker pushed the rest of the ice cream toward Isabel. "And he's going to do it again. And I don't know how I'm going to stop him, next time."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
"I really wish I'd been here then. It sounds like you could have used a shoulder." Isabel sighed, and toyed with the last spoonful. "You can't stop him. You can recommend, ask, plead, or grovel even. But he's a big boy. He's going to make his own decisions."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
"And give me another ulcer." Parker curled up on the bed, looking tired. "I'm not groveling. He gets pig-headed stubborn and it doesn't help. I could be arguing with a stone wall. And he just-- goes off, and does stuff." She rubbed her temple, then shrugged. "I wish you had been here. Jack did great, though, for worrying about Cedric the whole time too. Stayed up and watched the sunrise with him." She smiled slightly. "We need to do that sometime just for fun. When we can sleep afterwards."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"I can relate. That's how dealing with Michael is sometimes," she said. "He really cares about him doesn't he? It's sweet. As for the sunrise, tell me when and I'll be there." Isabel yawned, "I'd better get going. It's been a very long few days and I'm going to crash soon."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Do that. Say hi to Greg." Parker left the Kahlua, and said, "Catch you tomorrow sometime, okay? And take it easy."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll be around. No workshops. Bye Parker!"
