Room 406, Morning

The lack of a tree in her room had been bothering her, so Isabel spent Christmas Eve handwavily setting up a small tree on Xander's old desk. There's a stack of presents still to be distributed.

The door's open, the carols are playing and Isabel is wearing her penguin pajamas waiting for people to stop by.

She opened the box and smiled brightly. "Oh that's lovely. Thank you." Of course she had to put it on. "What do you think?"

"You look beautiful," he said honestly.

"Yes, because slightly tamed bed head and penguin pajamas are quite the fashion statement," Isabel laughed. "I'll be on the cover of next month's Vogue." She handed over a wrapped tube. "Here, one last one."

"Don't argue with me," he scolded lightly. "You look beautiful."

He took the gift, opened it and stared. "And that is beautiful too."

"No arguing. Yes sir." Isabel mimed zipping her lips. "Isn't it? My parents took us there for vacation when we were about eight. Even though I was young I remember thinking it was amazing. I thought Puff might like the view."

"He will," Cedric said. "It's a gorgeous place. Thank you so much for thinking of me, Isabel."

Isabel shrugged and smiled. "I told you. I like doing it. It's fun and it makes you smile."

"Of course it makes me smile," he said, rolling the picture back up. "It's made me happy."

"Good, that's what I wanted to do," she said, taking another cookie. "And now I have a proposition for you. Cause I've been thinking."

He paused and then nodded. "All right. What's the proposition?"

"Since we've been left to our own devices for the forseeable future, I think we should follow through on our plan to run away," Isabel said solemnly. "It would serve them right."

"Really?" Cedric quirked an eyebrow. "Where should we run away to?"

"Believe it or not? Not that far from Mexico," she laughed. "I had been invited to LA to visit a friend for the holidays. The same friend that half the school has gone to see. But I passed. Now I'm starting to think we should go."

"He wouldn't mind someone visiting that he doesn't know?"

"He wouldn't care in the least," Isabel promised. "Angel lives in this huge hotel, so there's plenty of room. Say you'll come with me? Please! I promise, we'll have so much fun!" There might have been puppy eyes.

"That's not fair," he said, pointing to said puppy eyes. "Mean. Now I can't say no."

She shrugged, not in the least bit guilty. "Good. I'll call Angel and make arrangements. Do you have any aversion to traveling by portal? Cause Angel's actually in an LA in another dimension."

"I obviously haven't told you enough about how I travel to and from places in England," Cedric said. "So, that would be a no."

"Even better. But no traveling without me," Isabel said. "I don't even want to think about explaining to Jack if I lost you." The more she thought about it, the more excited she got. "It's warm enough that we can probably go to the beach one day. Not to swim but to hang out. And oh! Disneyland. Definitely Disneyland."

"Disneyland?"

"It's an amusement park. Rollercoasters, goofy rides, and an oversized mouse," she explained. "Be prepared for more culture shock."

He blinked and tried to imagine such a thing. "Is it safe?"

"Perfectly," Isabel promised. "I won't let anything happen to you."

He smiled. "And I appreciate that. I'd love to go and be shocked some more."

"Then start packing. I'll call Angel and get transportation set up. Would tomorrow be okay?" she asked.
