Disneyland, all day

Isabel had tried to be mature and blase about going to Disney. But by the time they'd gotten their tickets, gotten into the park and were standing on Main Street, she was pretty much bouncing with excitement. "Okay, where do you want to go first?"

When the ride really starts going- at its whopping point five miles per hour- Aeryn says, "They're singing."

John makes himself comfortable in the boat and watches Aeryn's reactions. "They are."

"What?" John shrugs at her. "You don't think they'll listen?"

"Those things are not human," she says, pointing at one creepy-looking animatronic child. "They aren't even alien. And I'd hardly believe I would be the first person to tell them to shut up."

And thanks to those damn translator microbes, as they pass into the next country, she's not even hearing different languages. "Is it just the same thing over and over?"

She hits him in the shoulder, not hard, and begins glaring at one of the plastic robot children. "They're happy and smiling. They look like Callisto."

"Yeah, what was up with Callisto?"

"She supposedly hit her head and doesn't remember anything before Tuesday. Had to be told her name," she replies. "Maybe she went on this ride first and the trauma caused amnesia."

And that's when he starts singing too.
