Room 406, after classes into evening

After stopping by Greg's to check on him and finding him sleeping the sleep of the heavily cold-medicated, Isabel returned to her room for what appeared to be a very mellow Valentine's night.

Still, she couldn't complain. Library had been fun and Hunting had been as interesting as always. Isabel set her roses on the desk and took a moment to read the cards once more.

After changing into some clothes suitable for sprawling, she booted up the laptop and put in her DVD of Wooing the Rock.

The door was open and there was candy for sharing.

"I'll consider it," Peter said. "Hey, did I tell you my news?"

Isabel sat up and crossed her legs. "No you didn't. Does this have something to do with being naked in the hallway?" she snickered. "We usually only ask for shirtlessness. Nakedness is really going above and beyond the call."

"So you accidentally got naked in the hallway?" Isabel teased. "That's even better."

"Thaaaaaaaanks," Peter drawled. "I'm feeling better as I stand here."

Isabel ran a hand over her face and tried to act serious. Although the occasional giggle that snuck out probably ruined it. "I'm sorry. I'll be serious now. What's your news?"

Peter thought about teasing her some more but he was too excited to hold back. "I have a power!"

"You do? Really?" she asked, enjoying his excitement. "What is it?"

Peter came in, growing more animated as he talked. "I copy other people's powers. When I'm near them I can do what they do."

"You mean like float a cat toy around?" Isabel grinned.

"That's... kind of a specific power but yeah," Peter said. "If somebody could do that I could too."

"Remember the first day we met?" she asked, holding out a hand. One of Annie's stuffed mice floated over to her. "When you left, one of these went flying. And I didn't do it."

Peter looked stunned. "Really? I did that?"

"Well unless the cat's suddenly decided to let me know he's Faithful's long lost cousin? I'd say so," Isabel nodded. "I didn't say anything at the time because I thought you were keeping it secret. And god knows, I can relate to that."

"I didn't even know," Peter said. "I knew some stuff was going on but I figured I was going crazy."

"Not crazy. Just unique like the rest of us. So how did you find this out anyway?" she asked. "What other power did you get to experience?"

"Cassie's," Peter said, facepalming again. "I was sitting next to her and I became small. My clothes didn't come with me."

"Oh! You were weetiny? That's just too cute!" Isabel grinned. "Too bad the bunnies weren't around."

"Okay, next time I get powers I am not telling you," Peter said, but he was grinning.

"Fine, I'll stop with the teasing. Maybe." Holding up the mouse, she raised an eyebrow. "Think you could do it again?"

"Can I try?" Peter asked. He looked from the toy to her and back again. "What do I do?"

"Sure you can. And that's actually a good question." Isabel looked at the mouse and thought about how she's gotten it into her hand. "It sounds cheesy and new age? But just visualize it moving into your hand."

"Got it," Peter said. He sat and concentrated, imagining the mouse floating up into the air and hovering in place. It didn't happen at first, but then it did exactly as he pictured. "Hey! How's that?"

Isabel moved her hand out from under the mouse and clapped. "That's excellent! Can you move it around?" she asked, interested in seeing exactly how much he could do.

"Lemme see," Peter said. He concentrated until the mouse was dangling low enough to attract the eyes of a kitty. Then, when Annie went to pounce on it, he kept it out of the way so she could chase after it.
