Room 406, late afternoon

Isabel woke up after a much needed nap and stretched, thinking about the events of the last twenty-four hours. Only in Fandom could a simple movie night with friends turn into a collective nightmare. And despite knowing everyone really was okay, she'd still been too keyed up to sleep although the visit to Jack had helped calm her nerves enough that she'd been able to visit Phoebe and then get to her classes.

With a sigh, Isabel climbed out of bed and began to get ready for the dance.

The door was closed but completely knockable.

Greg, fully recovered and in a suit, meandered upstairs with something (http://a764.g.akamai.net/f/764/16742/1h/www.1800flowers.com/800f_assets/images/flowers/images/shop/catalog/1997vz.jpg) in his hands, and a visible bulk in his jacket pocket.

He knocked on the door.

Isabel had just finished putting on her dress and was slipping her feet into her heels. "It's open."

Greg opened the door.

"...wow."

"You're looking pretty wow yourself," Isabel smiled, walking over to kiss him hello. "How are you feeling?"

[identity profile] like-a-sponge.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Better," he said, kissing her. "Um, these are for you. They're stargazer lilies."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Good. I was worried about you," she admitted. "And these are gorgeous. Just like the roses."

"And this is, too," he added, pulling a small box (http://www.tiffany.com/shopping/zoom.aspx?sku=21088927&shortDescrSku=21088927&retail=250.0000) from his breast pocket. "Happy Valentine's Day."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Isabel's eyes got wide as she opened the box. "It's lovely. And gee, I don't have any jewelry on. Would you put it on me please?"

[identity profile] like-a-sponge.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Sure," Greg said, pleased as he slipped it around her neck and set to work on the clasp. "I'm glad you like it."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
"I love it," she assured him. "It's beautiful. I have something for you as well." Isabel handed him the large flat package. "This one's kind of goofy."

[identity profile] like-a-sponge.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Greg carefully opened it. "It's the periodic table!" he squeed.

Yes, squeed.

Isabel grinned, glad to see he liked it. "There's one more." This package was book-shaped.

Greg bounced. And then smiled when he read the inscription inside.

"Thank you," he said, leaning over to kiss her.

"It's supposed to be a classic. I figure if you're building a library it would be a good place to start," she explained. "Of course you might have three copies already, in which case, I'm sorry."

Hopefully the kisses made up for it if he did.

[identity profile] like-a-sponge.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't, actually," he said, kissing her again. "Nice choice."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
"So that was a lucky Google search then," Isabel grinned. "So are you up for an evening of dancing and romance?"

[identity profile] like-a-sponge.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, is that what that is?" Greg asked, feigning ignorance. "Well, I suppose."

"I appreciate the sacrifices you make for me," she laughed, reaching for her shawl. "Come on. It'll be fun. Nuclear war and chinchillas, how can that be wrong?"
