Room 406, evening

Over all it's been a good weekend. The dance was wonderful, and weetiny adults were amusing and entertaining. Even if some of them did leave weird phone messages.

The overall good mood allowed her to forget about any weirdness, well other then being grateful that it didn't seem to have a lasting effect. It also let an unexpected conversation count as odd, rather then disturbing.

The door was open and Isabel could be heard occasionally singing along as she cleaned her room.

Jack - bruise-jawed, stiff-shouldered, doped up and feeling more than a bit sorry for himself - leaned in the doorway to Isabel's room, waiting for her to notice him.

Isabel was busy folding clothes in the closet and not really paying much attention to the door.

Almost any other time he'd join in, but not right now. Instead, he wandered in and stood behind her. "Hey, Izzy."

"Gah!" Isabel yelled, turning quickly. "Don't do that!" And then she got a good look at him. "Oh my god, what happened?"

"I got in a scuffle with Kawalsky." He held up his hand. "And before you say anything no, it was not my fault."

"The only thing I was going to say was that no matter what, he should know better," Isabel said indignantly. "You're hurt!"

"Thank you, Izzy," he told her, looking sad. "It kind of messed up my shoulder, too. Sam had to restitch it."

"Come on," she said, tugging his hand and pulling him over to the bed. "Sit down and relax. How's your shoulder feel? Did you take your pills?"

And this was why he'd dragged himself up here. Jack sat in the bed, squeezing her hand, and nodded. "Yeah, two this morning right after, and two just before I came up here. I'm okay."

"Good. I really wish there was a way I could get Max here to fix you up. I hate seeing you hurting like this," Isabel said. She fluffed up the pillows and offered one to Jack.

"Me, too. Think he'd help?" he asked, taking the pillow and tucking it behind his back as he settled himself more comfortably. "Not sure he really liked me."

"It doesn't matter. If I asked, he'd do it. He knows you're important to me. But," she sighed, "without Bel and the demonic taxi service we're out of luck. Because somehow I can't see Max explaining to my mom why he's flying out just for a day."

"Yeah, true. I'll just have to suffer through it the old fashioned way," he sighed, not wanting to mention Bel. Luckily there was a ready made change of subject to hand. "Your room seems remarkably free of small people."

Peter who felt neglected because I've barely played him in the past week, wtf, self? wandered up to Isabel's room. "Hello there!" he said. "Having fun cleaning?"

"Hey stranger!" Isabel said as she stuffed rearranged her sweaters on the shelf in the closet. "What's up?"

"Not a whole lot, really," Peter said. "Good Valentine's stuff, school's been okay, otherwise things have been quiet. I appreciate that ever now and then. How about with you?"

"About the same here. Greg was sick so Valentine's was quiet. But the dance was fun," she replied. "I even stumbled across Vader juggling chinchillas if you can believe that. And I've just been enjoying this weekend's insanity."

"Further proof of his evil. Good people don't juggle chinchillas," Peter said. "I've managed to avoid the insanity for the most part. I don't really want more of an excuse to laugh at my teachers."

"Surprisingly the only one of my teacher's I've stumbled across is Aly. But I did see Rose, Jarod and Xander," Isabel said. "I helped Jarod build a race car out of a cardboard box."

"Crazy kids. We should give them all teddy bears and see if they're nicer whenever they're back to normal," Peter said.

She shrugged, "Everyone's perfectly nice to me when they're normal. Teddy bears might just make them nicer. I'm not sure I could handle that."

"They're nice to me, too, but there's no such thing as a teacher being too nice," Peter said.

"Good point. Especially when they're grading." Bored with cleaning, Isabel closed the closet door and took a seat. "So do you have any plans for break? I can't believe it's coming up so soon."

"Nothing special," Peter said. "Maybe go home for a few days, see my aunt and some friends, punch a few criminals. How about you?"

"Will I get phone calls from traumatized victims again?" she snickered.
