Room 406, late afternoon

Isabel wasn't certain what time she finally got home after prom night. All she knew was it was late and she was exhausted from dancing and excitement.

It was after twelve when she finally woke up, and much later when she finally got off the phone with her mother. Diane Evans had enjoyed hearing all the details about prom, and now that she finally knew the truth about her daughter, she liked hearing stories about her friends.

After finally hanging up the phone, Isabel opened the door to her room and stretched out on her bed to read, stopping occasionally to smile at the tiara on her desk.

"'Kay!" Josh said, getting so excited he nearly toppled over.

Isabel caught him, snugging an arm around his waist. "Okay, one. Two. Three. And they're off!" Slowly her paperclip started floating about the room.

His paper clip floated after in a much more erratic pattern, bouncing slightly. "Yay!!"

"You're very good at this," Isabel laughed. "Next thing you know, you'll be turning your daddy's hair blue for him."

"Daddy doesn't like blue hair," Josh said very seriously. "He says tha's something mean meerkitties do to people."

"Of course," she said. "I bet you like Stickbugs though."

"Stickbugs forever!" Josh exclaimed, flinging up his arms.

Which just invited tickling of course.
