406, evening

The break week had started out fine. Isabel had helped Principal Washburn get rid of the pink, had dinner with Wyatt and spent time on the beach. Then she'd talked to Anakin. The quiet mood she'd been in after talking to him persisted and Isabel spent the day in her room reading and trying her hand at some sudoku puzzles.

The door was open.

"Well... good to know," Peter said, still trying to be casual. "Thanks."

"Anytime," she promised, flashing him a small smile. "So are you ready for this week's invasion?"

"We know in - oh, the new kids," Peter said. "I keep forgetting."

"You'll be abruptly reminded when you go to watch TV in the common room and it's filled with strange faces," Isabel laughed. "River and I were wondering how many of them we can send screaming back over the causeway."

"At least it's nice not being the newest," Peter said. "I get to be the voice of experience. I can cope with that."

"It's weird to think that once the last of the graduates leave this week, I'll be one of the handful of people that still remembers Snow Monsters." She pulled her shoulders in and bent over. "You young whippersnappers!"

"Need me to get offa your lawn?" Peter said, laughing.

"Kids today...no respect," Isabel muttered, before sitting up and laughing as well. "I've got another question for you. Do you dance?"

"We talking professionally or just as a concept?" Peter asked.

"Let's just start with the concept," she said. "Unless you feel like finally announcing that you're a championship ballroom dancer."

"I wouldn't say championship," Peter joked. "But yeah, I dance. Why?"

"No reason. Yet," Isabel replied. "But River and I might try to pull something together for the new people. And the old people. It would most likely involve dancing." And shirtlessness, but there was no need to bring that up now.

"Great!" And then, because she knew it would make him smile, "It's a date."

Isabel leaned over to look at the laptop. Funny how she wound up closer to Peter. "So what do you think, between the two of us? We can solve this puzzle?"
