Fortunately work had been quiet and Isabel was able to get a significant amount of work done on her applications. That's why she didn't feel guilty when she grabbed her laptop and answered an email, then flipped on the TV to look for something cheesy to watch.

The door was open.

Something resembling a small, plushie soccerball might've been tossed into the room towards Isabel.

Isabel looked up as Annie pounced on the plushie and grinned. "Did the cat toy fairy bring you a new toy?" she asked, loud enough to be heard across the hall.

Adam attempted to muffle his laughter. "Quite possibly," he replied back, laughing as Sara poked her head out into the hallway, trying to see where the ball had gone.

"That's funny, I thought you'd have more fur?" She got to her feet and pulled the toy away from Annie, then tossed it back across the hall.

"Nah, decided to shave this time around," Adam smirked.

Sara took the opportunity to pounce on the ball, tripping over her paws in the process. It was just too cute for words.

Isabel grinned, "That's going to itch when it all grows back in."

"She's a cutie. She's going to be gorgeous when she's full grown."

"Yeah, well, I'll deal with that when it happens," Adam shrugged, chuckling.

"Thanks. Yeah, I took one look at her and I didn't have a chance," he admitted, shaking his head. Having the ball dropped at his feet, he made sure it wasn't slobbery, before tossing it back across the hall.

"That's about how I wound up with Annie," Isabel nodded as the cat in question leaped back onto the ball. "She adopted me."

Meg knocked on Isabel's doorframe. She was holding one of the cupcakes she made earlier in her hand.

"Birthday girl!" Isabel waved. "Happy Birthday!"

"It always seem to work out that way, doesn't it?" Adam admitted, grinning. "She's adorable."

Obviously the boy was a fan of animals, cats and dogs alike.

"Thanks." she said, grinning. "I brought you a cupcake."

"She's feisty and holds a grudge," she laughed. "But when she's in a good mood, she's very snuggly."

"Really? Want to trade it for a birthday present?" she asked, holding out a hand as a brightly colored gift bag floated over to her.

"Aw, you didn't have to do that." she said. She took a peak inside of the bag. "Oh! It's beautiful! Thank you!"

"I wanted to. I figured coming from California you might need a little help getting ready for winter," Isabel explained. "Although it really doesn't feel like winter is ever going to get here."

"Sounds like she's quite the catch," Adam smirked. "Sara here tends to wake me up in the middle of the night to play. It's a lot of fun."

"Winter is going to be hard to get used to. And look, it'll go nice with my other gift." Meg held up her wrist to show Isabel the string and bead bracelet Dean had given her as an IOU gift.

"Fortunately Annie's not that mean." Annie batted at the toy then stopped and stared longingly after it when it rolled back into the hallway.

"It shouldn't be that bad. As long as the snow monsters don't come back."

She grinned at the bracelet, "The scarf's more colorful."

Snow monsters? Meg was so glad she was learning how to fight.

"I don't think Dean's into wearing bright colors." Meg said. "It's his bracelet. Sort of as an IOU."

"Glad to hear that," Adam smiled.

Sara took the chance to trot out into the hallway to where the ball was, and nudge it back towards Annie.

Adam blinked, having not expected that. Huh, that was new.

"Dean? Bright? Oh no way," Isabel laughed. "So he owes you a present? Send him to me at the store, I can help him find something stylish."

"Oh thank you sweetie," Isabel told the puppy as Annie pounced again once the ball was in reach.

"Bridge made me a little kitty force field. It let's me keep the door open without having to worry about her escaping. That's why she couldn't get to the ball."

"He doesn't need to owe me a present." she said, smirking. Meg kind of liked the bracelet since it had been his. "But I'll try to give him the hint."
