Room 406, evening

Aside from being social and cooking on Friday morning, answering a letter and talking to Jaina today, Isabel had had a mostly quiet weekend as she worked on finishing up her college applications. They were finally done and stacked neatly in a pile on her desk, ready to be mailed in the morning.

To celebrate, Isabel flipped on the TV and got ready to watch the premiere of The Amazing Race. She'd missed Phil Keoghan.

The door was open.

"That's an option. Definitely."

Isabel considered some of the radio broadcast she'd heard lately. Mentally shrugged and went for it. "So you and Sam got over the weekend weirdness?" She was fairly certain she didn't need to specify what weekend.

Hey, look at that lack of eye contact. "Uh - yeah. Things are fine. He's with Dawn. I've... figured out some things. It's good."

"Oh?" she asked quietly. Because honestly? That was about how she reacted when anyone asked her about Wyatt right after that weekend.

Peter took a deep breath, because these were the conclusions he'd drawn and he still felt certain about sticking with them. "Yeah. There was - you know, confusion. But I think I've figured out what was really going on. Being with Sam... made me realize my dating options are a little more broad than I originally thought."

Isabel would never give Peter a hard time about any conclusions he'd drawn. "That's not such a bad thing. Especially around here."

Peter nodded. "Yeah, I'm not bothered about that. Just the way I found out. Made things a little awkward around Sam, you know? But we've got it all sorted out. He gets that we can stay friends even though I figured it out when I was with him that weekend. He knows it's not about him specifically. Not like that."

"That's good," she nodded. "I'd hate to see Fandom weirdness ruin a good friendship."

"Well if Nathan and Dean couldn't ruin it, a little sexuality issue probably didn't stand a chance," Peter said, possibly more casually than he felt. He took a swig of his water to deal with a sudden dry spot in his throat.

"Nope, not a chance," Isabel agreed. "Sam's too good of a guy. You both are."

"I get that without an insult attached?" Peter teased.

"No...Brat!" she grinned. Then stuck her tongue out at him.

For that Peter stole another cookie.

"You! You! Cookie thief!" Isabel exclaimed. "It's the first step on a life of crime."

"It's all your fault," Peter countered. "I'll tell everyone you're the blame."

"Yet another reason for Nathan to hate me." Not that he ever had that much of a reason to like her in the first place other then the fact he liked blondes.

"Why would Nathan hate you?" Peter asked.

"I don't think he liked me all that much when we first met," Isabel shrugged. "And if you told him I, well, dumped you as a result of that weekend, I just can't see me making his Christmas card list."

"I'd tell him nothing like that," Peter said. "You're my friend, Isabel. That's what matters."

"Yeah," she agreed with a small smile. "That's the most important part. Definitely."

"Does this mean I can play matchmaker now?"

Peter stared. "With... me and Nathan?"

"Oh my god! No! I don't care that it's practically canon" Isabel exclaimed. "That's just...gah!"

"This is what I'm saying!"

"And this is me agreeing with you!" she replied. "I meant with some of our fellow students. I didn't think I'd need clarify that point."

"Okay then." Peter snagged another cookie. "And - sure? I guess? I mean it's not like I'm on the prowl or anything."

"No, you're far from the prowling type," Isabel agreed. "That would be Johnny. As for me arranging anything? I'm not going to do anything yet." Because the one person that jumped to mind needed a little more time to heal. "I'm just going to think for now."
