Room 406, Wednesday evening

They'd left the hospital, returned Dr. Wilson to the clinic, and then orbed back to the dorms. Isabel waited till the door closed behind Lana then carefully turned to Wyatt. "Ready to do your thing?"

"The tingling touch, huh?" Isabel teased lightly as the pain disappeared. She leaned forward to rest her head against Wyatt's shoulder. "Thank you. That feels a hundred times better."

Wyatt reached up to put his arms around her, hugging her fiercely. "I'm just glad you're okay," he said.

"You and me both," she admitted, holding on just at tightly. "For a little while there, I was pretty scared. But I knew I could count on my knight in shining armor."

"Always," Wyatt promised. "With a little help from Lana and her blood and Dr. Wilson knowing his way around a hospital to make the switch."

"I owe them massive amounts of baked goods don't I?" Isabel replied with a small smile. "Which I will happily provide. As for you, well, I'll think of something."

Wyatt stood up, then settled on the bed beside Isabel. "I wouldn't mind some baked goods," he said. "Although something is good, too."

She leaned close, finally able to relax. "Something is good. Except maybe not tonight. The actual headache might be gone. But I think I still have a bit of a metaphorical one. It was a long day." Which was putting it mildly.

"All I want to do is hang on to you and not let go, ever," Wyatt murmured, pressing a kiss against her temple.

"I like the sound of that plan," Isabel agreed, reaching for his hand and tangling fingers their fingers together. "Warm and cozy. And safe."

Wyatt squeezed her hand. "You hungry?" he asked. "I can get us some food. What are you in the mood for?"

The idea of being pampered a bit was extremely appealing. "Want to call Ching Tai? I could go for some Lo Mein. And maybe some dumplings? And I can't believe I'm actually hungry."

"You haven't eaten all afternoon," Wyatt pointed out. He pulled away from Isabel just long enough to fish his cell phone out of his jacket, then placed an order for food.

"I know, I missed out on the gourmet cuisine that is hospital food. What was I thinking?"

Reluctantly Isabel pulled away. "While we wait for the food, I'm going to go take a quick shower and put on the comfy pjs. I feel all grubby. And," she said, rubbing at the bandage still on her forehead, "I can get rid of this, and the stitches I no longer need."

Once Isabel removed the bandage, she would find the stitches completely gone. Hey, it was magic. "Okay," Wyatt said. "I'm going to run down to my room and grab a few things, all right?"

"I think I can manage on my own for a few minutes," Isabel sighed. "But hurry back." Since she was really looking forward to snuggling together for the night.

"Just let yourself in if I'm not out of the shower by the time you're back," she told him, as she rummaged through her dresser drawer for her comfiest pajamas.

Cozy flannel in hand, Isabel gave him a quick kiss and disappeared into the bathroom.

Doors were not a concern when one could orb. Wyatt teleported two floors down, grabbing his backpack and stuffing a change of clothes and pajama bottoms into it along with a bottle of hair straightener. He was back and changed into said pjs before Isabel emerged from the shower, and had the covers turned down and the pillows fluffed and ready.

Isabel took her time in the shower, relaxing under the hot spray and deliberately not thinking about how the day could have ended. When she finally stepped out from the bathroom, she smiled. "Now that looks inviting. Dinner? Snuggles? What more could I want?"

The food had just arrived before Isabel came out of the bathroom, and Wyatt was in the process of opening cartons and scooping contents on to a pair of plates. "Candlelight and a chick flick?" he grinned.

"You spoil me," she told him, taking a seat on the bed. "Candles yes, but the movie doesn't have to be a chick flick. Especially since I'm not sure I'll be able to stay awake through it. So your choice. Just nothing too scary."

Wyatt handed Isabel a plate of food. "Project Runway's a repeat tonight, isn't it?" he said.

"It is," Isabel said woefully. "No new Tim. That's just wrong and mean."

Wyatt settled beside Isabel with his own plate and the remote for the TV. "Well, there's repeats," he said, flipping through the channels. "ANTM marathon, unfortunate. 'Mystery Diagnosis'? That sounds promising, but probably not dinnertime entertainment."

"No. Because our luck it would be about a tapeworm or something equally gross," she shuddered. "There's always Alton."

Wyatt surfed to the Food Channel. "There we go," he said, setting aside the remote. "Now, eat, snuggle, sleep."

"And learn about how the make the perfect corndog," Isabel said seriously. "It's a very important skill."

A while later Isabel set aside her plate. "That was tasty. Now can we move onto the snuggling part of the evening?"

Wyatt took care of the plates and leftovers, then returned to the bed. "Your wish is my command," he said, smiling.

"I'm thinking your shoulder is looking pretty comfortable," she admitted. "And that your arms would be just wonderful wrapped around me."

Isabel ducked her head, looking and feeling sheepish. "And I know I sound like a dork, but it's been a bad day."

Wyatt snuggled up beside Isabel, giving her said shoulder and wrapping said arms around her. "You don't sound like a dork at all," he said. "You had a big scare."

Isabel burrowed close. "It was scary. But I knew you'd be there. That helped a lot."

"Always," Wyatt promised, stroking her hair. "Nobody's going to hurt you as long as I can help it."

"I know," she said quietly, tracing her finger lightly over his chest. "You're the first person besides Max and Michael that I believe could do that."

"I'm your very own personal guardian angel," Wyatt said, catching her hand in his, bringing it to his lips so he could kiss her fingertips.

"I couldn't ask for a better one," Isabel said, brushing her thumb over his lips.
