Room 406, afternoon

She'd needed last night, Isabel realized. After everything that had happened, she needed a night of being quiet and feeling safe.

Eventually she'd made it back to her room. After a shower, she'd called her mom, feigning surprise at the news of the destruction of the Meta-Chem, and quickly changing the subject to the cleaning supplies that were currently working busily around the room.

"I know mom," she said eventually. "Yes, we'll be out for dinner soon. I promise. Bye." Isabel hung up her phone and opened her laptop. Solitaire would be a good way to not think for the afternoon.

[Door closed, post is open! And I'm about to go AFK till about 7 EST. I'll grab pings when I get back. And I'm back!!!]

"You've done it before. And you're a lot smarter than most people I know," Meg said. She had no idea how certain people at this school managed to hide their powers in the real world.

"Yeah, hiding in plain sight. It's just going to be weird for a while. Till I get used to it," Isabel shrugged. "But enough about me. How are you? You weren't hurt were you?"

"I'm fine," Meg said. "I was mostly just worried about you."

"Yeah, I understand why," she nodded. After all, dust... "I'm just glad Sam and Peter were to do say that I'd be back. Because otherwise...god. That would have been bad." Isabel couldn't help but remember how awful it was when Alex died. Which ironically enough would be two years in another two days.

"Ugh, I don't even want to think about it," Meg said, wincing. Lilly's death had bothered her enough and she hadn't even liked her all that much.

"No, let's not," Isabel agreed. "Instead we're going to think about the fun things we can do with the awesome guys that came charging to our rescue."

Meg smiled slightly. "They're pretty good at the hero thing, aren't they?"

"Damn straight," she agreed. "Although Wyatt would probably cope better if I wasn't the damsel in distress the next time." Isabel sighed and shook her head, "He told me what happened. I'm glad Chris was there with you and was able to stop him."

"It was understandable though," Meg said, even though Wyatt freaking out had scared her. "I probably would have done it too. If could do anything other than stamp my feet and cry, that is."

"Yeah, maybe." But Isabel was still going to talk to Chris.

"There's nothing wrong with stamping your feet and crying," she teased gently. "In the right circumstances it could get you a shiny new toy. Although personally I've always been partial to the pout with puppy eyes." Teasing and pretending everything was alright was just easier, Isabel realized.

"I never been good at the puppy eyes," Meg said. "But I am pretty good at falling for them. It's like guys just know it'll work."

"Then beware of Peter. And Anders. They're both deadly," Isabel grinned.

"I can definitely see how they'd be good at it," Meg said with a grin. "Especially, Peter. Puppy dog eyes plus the floppy hair? It'd get me every time."

"They should be classified as deadly weapons," she agreed. "Although his mom tells him to get his hair cut."

"Yeah, my dad would be after him with a pair a scissors if he saw him," Meg said. "Why parents are so against the long hair I'll never know."

"Long hair on guys you mean," Isabel laughed. "Maybe they figure long hair is one step away from leather and a motorcycle."

"Somehow I'm not seeing Peter wearing leather anytime soon," Meg said. She wanted to laugh just thinking about it.
