The Preserve, later in the evening

Isabel was not happy when she woke up and found out that Fandom Weirdness had changed her into a guy. Her mood started to improve once she made it to class. And it was much better after spending time in town catching up with people. It had improved enough, that she even sent photographic evidence to Parker.

Still, between residual issues from the weekend, and her sudden guyness, it meant that the six month anniversary evening she'd originally planned on had turned into a quiet dinner and then a walk in the preserve.

"Not to mention casinos, clubs, and quickie wedding chapels," Wyatt added.

Isabel bumped against Wyatt's shoulder. Which was weird because they were at the same level for a change. "My mom would kill us."

"What happens in Vegas," Wyatt said solemnly, "stays in Vegas."

"I think she'd catch on eventually," she pointed out. "The ring would give it away."

"Point," Wyatt agreed. "We'll just have to invite her then." Wow, was it weird talking marriage when his girlfriend was a boyfriend.

"Her, both of yours. Various iterations of your aunts, their boyfriends, and everyone else that we'd want to invite." Isabel snickered. "Maybe a quick trip to the chapel wouldn't be such a bad idea."

"You saw how Thanksgiving went!" Wyatt said.

"Yes, but most of them know me. And have seen how I get with trying to get Christmas perfect," she said, pointing her finger for emphasis. "Do you really think they'd want to risk my wrath by creating havoc at our wedding?"

Habit had her unconsciously reaching for his hand.

He took her hand and gave it a squeeze. "True," he said. "They'd be fools to get in your way."

"I'm afraid I'd wind up as a very special episode of Bridezilla." Which was a very legitimate concern as far as Isabel was concerned.

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure, what?" Wyatt asked, pausing their walk to look at Isabel.

She'd listened to radio, she'd watched in class, and she was worried. "You haven't talked to Chris have you?"

". . . no," Wyatt admitted.

"You need to." Which was stating the obvious, but if they were going to be stubborn, she'd do it.

Wyatt looked away. "What am I going to say? Sorry that in another world I turned evil and wanted to kill you? He's my brother and I wanted to torture him!"

"I don't know," she admitted. "But you can't just ignore it. You guys are so close. You can't let that slip away because that would be almost as bad as if the curse had worked."

"I know," Wyatt said. "I just don't know he's going to trust me anymore."

"It could take time," Isabel said honestly, stepping a little closer. She'd gotten her brothers killed. But they'd gotten past it.

"I hate to think of a world where Chris and I weren't on the same side," Wyatt said quietly. "It's always been him and me against the world."

"And that's how it will be again. Just talk to him. See how he feels. If wants, needs, time. Let him have it." She reached her free hand up and brushed her fingers over his cheek. "I'll be there to wait with you."

Except for the part where she was going to be in England for a few days.

Wyatt reached up and caught her (his?) hand, pressing it to his cheek. "Can I wait 'til you're back?" he said. No, he wasn't stalling, not at all.

"Do you really want to let it go that long?" Isabel asked. "You're going to dwell and stress. Just talk to him. You'll feel better afterwards."

Her fingers curved over Wyatt's jaw as thumb stroked his cheek. She blinked for a moment, not recognizing her own hand.

"I will," Wyatt said. His eyes drifted sideways to look at her hand, then went back to her face. "This is weird," he said.

"Good." Isabel had done what she could for now. Hopefully Chris would give him a chance.

She continued rubbing his cheek. It was strange, but still familiar in some ways. "Very weird. But only the outside's changed. I'm still me."

"I know," Wyatt said. "I think you're cuter as a girl, though." He grinned.
