Room 406, Late Afternoon, early evening

Isabel's spent the afternoon in the common room kitchen handwavily cooking dinner. Now everything is carefully arranged on covered plates, ready to be reheated at the appropriate time. There's a blanket and candles set up picnic style on the floor. But for now, Isabel's playing solitare on the laptop while she waits for Greg to arrive.

When her email blinked, she smiled when she saw the message.

Greg gave her a small smile. "I'm telling you right now, I'm horrible with anniversaries," he said. "But I'm glad you're happy. Happy Isabels make for happy Gregs."

"Honestly I didn't even think about it until Walter asked how long we'd been seeing each other," she said. "So yay! We can be happy together."

"I hadn't thought about it either," he admitted. "Which is weird."

He gave her a shy smile. "And I'll see what I can do about staying on the island beyond summer."

"We've been busy," Isabel said and then blinked as the rest of his words sank in. "You would? Really?"

"I like it here," he replied, blushing and not looking at her.

"I'm glad," she said quietly. "I hope you can."

"Me too," he said, glancing at her and blushing. "I mean, the curriculum is great."

"Oh yes," Isabel agreed, matching his blush and going a shade or two deeper. "Did you sign up for next session's workshops?"

"Yup. Baking and How to Win Friends and stuff," Greg answered. "What about you?"

"I've got the second session of First Aid, Scoobying, I'm hoping to get into Constant Vigilance and I also signed up for cooking and baking," she said with a smile. "So it looks like we have another workshop together."

"I promise not to set you on fire by accident," he said seriously.

"Thank you," Isabel grinned. "And I promise to not be an insane control freak." She pointed towards her laptop, "By the way? For after dinner entertainment? I got hold of a copy of Apocolypse. I thought we could mock everything that's scientifically impossible."

Greg beamed at her. "But...but there's so much."

"I know," she smiled, pleased that Greg liked the idea. "Liz pointed out tons of it when we watched it one time. But it has to be bad because even I picked out a few things on my own. I mean seriously? Open flames in space? Without oxygen?"

"I know!" Greg said, grinning dorkily, still. "It's a great thrill movie for people who don't know better, but most of it's just so idiotic."

"Like the machine gun that was built into the mining rig?" Isabel asked. "What was that about? Unless they expected some of my relatives to attack?"

"Well, yes, all vehicles should have machine guns," he told her seriously. "Every car, boat, plane, train - everything down to tractors needs heavy weaponry."

Greg rolled his eyes. "I seriously have no idea, but wasn't that convenient?"

Isabel put her plate aside and smiled. "My dad makes a pretty good argument for mounting missles on the front bumper of his car. He can be a bit intense when he drives."

"So now we're faced with a serious question. Dessert now? Or after the movie?"

"Dessert now," Greg suggested. "Just in case we fall asleep or get distracted something, as we're known to do."

"Us? Distracted? Never! I mean, I'm sure we'll stay completely focused on the movie," Isabel chuckled as she got the torte out of Xander's old refrigerator that had magically made it's way back up to the 406 since it wasn't needed or appreciated in the cushy teacher rooms. "Here you go," she said, handing over the Greg's slice. "Hopefully it tastes as good as it looks."

Greg tentatively took a bite, and smiled. "It's excellent," he told her. "Thank you. For all of this. You seriously didn't have to go to so much trouble, but it was...sweet of you to do so."

After dousing her own piece with Tabasco, Isabel took a bite. "You're right. It is good. This wasn't trouble, honestly. And even it was? You're worth it," she said shyly.

Greg gave her a shy smile. "Yeah, definitely will be checking to see if I can stay through fall," he decided, poking at his torte. "Because this is very good, and I don't think I can get this back home."

"Sadly no," Isabel said. "Jeff and his special brand of baked good goodness are unique to Fandom, so yes that is another good reason to stay. The curriculum and the baked goods."

"Of course, Callisto wanting to kill me is a strike against staying," he mused, clearly teasing.
