Room 406, Wednesday, late afternoon

A unexpected phone call had changed Isabel's plans for at least the weekend. After all, there's no sense in going to LA and not spending some time there. She hung up with Angel and then made a call to arrange transportation. That done, she made a few more calls to let people know she'd be out of town.

Phone calls made, Isabel pulled her bag out from under her bed and started to pack.

The door's open.

"Close, but not quite the same thing," Peter said, walking into the room and taking a seat. "Gonna try to make it as a Hollywood supastar?" He posed dramatically to emphasize that last word.

"Or is this something less fun that I probably shouldn't be mocking the way I am?"

"I heard American Idiot was having auditions. I thought I'd try out." Isabel pushed her bag to the side and took a seat. "I'm not sure how serious it's going to be. Angel called. He said he needs my help. There's some sort of dream demon or something he has to stop. It looks like I'll be doing some dreamwalking."

"Oh, that sounds like fun and a half," Peter said. "Don't get yourself hurt fighting the demon. If you do that, then I'll be sad, and Greg will be sad, and I'll have to deal with Greg being sad while I'm sad and that won't end well because he's a mild handful even when he's boring."

"I'm strictly back-up," Isabel promised. "You know Angel, he's got that whole hero thing going for him. I'll dreamwalk, he'll kill the demon, then we'll go to dinner." She laughed, "A mild handful? That's a mild understatement. Has he told you about the ball pit?"

"I heard something about the ball pit on the radio but it made no sense to me, personally," Peter said.

"We stopped for pizza on our way out to the rafting trip," Isabel explained. "There was a ball pit. Jarod, Greg and Cedric were fascinated. And had to go play. They were extremely disappointed when they were kicked out for being too big." She shook her head, chuckling. "Greg is planning on building one in the park."

"He's not going to drain the duck pond for it, is he?" Peter asked. "Because that's what I'd try to do."

"I have no idea," she admitted. "I figure I'm just going to sit back and watch. It should be amusing. Of course if he does? And the ducks decide to fight back? My money is on the ducks."

"He'll just promise them time with Callisto and he'll be fine," Peter said. "He is the duck whisperer, after all."

"Until Callisto comes looking for him. Then there might be a problem," Isabel chuckled. "If that happens? Promise me you'll help him hide?"

"I taunt Miho every Tuesday," Peter said. "I know what I'm getting myself into, though. I'm not sure Greg can say the same."

"Oh that must have gone over well," Isabel laughed. "I'm surprised the entire class didn't get detention, just because."

"It's only me and Gwynn Hood in the class," Peter said. "She's much more controlled than me, and even I didn't laugh today. I did give a thumbs up, though."

"Only two? Really? God, that class was mobbed the first session." Isabel nodded wisely, "Restraint is wise young grasshopper. You're learning."

"I think everyone just took it last session, so she was left with Gwynn and me, and I didn't even sign up for it," Peter said. "And trust me, I'm picking my battles with her carefully now. I got her to draw the sword last week. I don't want to push her too far yet."

"No! No! No! You're not supposed to tell me things like this," she said, covering her face and shaking her head. "Now I'm going to have to worry about both of you."

"It's class. She's not going to do anything," Peter said. He didn't mention that she probably could get him outside of class in town. That would be foolish.

Isabel is well aware that the ninja lives in town. But sometimes denial isn't such a bad thing. "You're right," she said. "The administration would be unhappy. So how's life as a blonde?"

"Not as exciting as it was a couple weeks ago," Peter said. "I'm just not sure about this blondes having more fun thing."
