Room 406, All day

Isabel made a quick pass through the common room kitchen to fix up a plate of healthy snack food then returned to her room to spend the day trying to keep up with the reading for all her classes. As she settled in with the reading for Interstellar Relations, her mind wandered to something she'd noticed in yesterday's Ethics class. Reaching for her phone, Isabel left a quick message, before opening her book and beginning to read.

"That's all I'm asking for," Isabel said. "And if it makes you feel better, I had to make a similar promise to Greg. He wasn't happy when I got back from LA and immediately went off to rescue Jack."

"I wouldn't be happy either if you were my girlfriend," Bel said.

"Oh but it was okay for me to help when Phoebe got kidnapped?" she asked. "And he wasn't mad that I went to help, he was mad that I snuck out and just left him a note."

"Because you were trying to hide it from him," Bel said. "If Phoebe did that I'd be upset, too."

Now it was Isabel's turn to be sheepish. "I know. Trust me, I won't be doing it again."

"Good," Bel said. He grinned. "Guess we've both learned our lesson."

"Oh yes," she laughed. "I won't go running off into danger without telling him and I hope you'll avoid the places where people want to kill you."

"First I gotta fix things with Phoebe," Bel sighed unhappily. "She's going home for the weekend and I don't want her to go pissed off at me."

"That would be a good idea," Isabel nodded. "You don't want her to brood the entire time she's home. I'd suggest flowers and saying I'm sorry and meaning it."

"I meant it when I said it before," Bel protested. "I don't like her getting mad at me."

"You'll have to keep saying it until she believes you," she said. "When you said it before, was that when you wound up having the whole conversation about her kissing people?"

"That was the first time," Bel admitted. "The second time was just more of the same I guess."

"Then I guess in her mind you're not getting the reason why she's upset," Isabel said. "You're going to have to show her that you understand why."

"Demon relationships aren't like human ones," Bel said, scratching his head. "I have a lot to learn."

"I figured as much," she nodded. "I guess it's more about power then respect and communication?"

"Right," Bel said. "I've been at this for a year now, though. Homecoming is our anniversary."

"If you've made it a year then obviously you're doing something right," Isabel smiled. "So congratulations."

"Thanks," Bel said, grinning. "I suppose I should do something special that night, huh?"

"Very special," she agreed. "Romance, flowers, the whole nine yards. I know it's what I'd like. Cause secretly I'm an incurable romantic."

"I need to come up with some money for this," Bel said, rubbing his chin. "I don't have much of an income anymore without the Underworld supporting me."

"See that's where you're wrong," Isabel said, shaking her head. "You don't have to spend a lot of money to make things special. Use your imagination. Make up a CD of her favorite songs, bring her breakfast in bed. Give her a nice massage. It' not how much money you spend, it really is the thought that you put into it that matters most."

"What about shiny things, like a ring or necklace?" Bel said. "I want to get her a real present."

"Oh don't get me wrong, shiny things are nice to. But what's most important, no matter what you do, is the thought that you put into it," she explained. "Like what I did for Greg back in July. Did you ever notice the tattoos I did around my ankles then?"

"Yeah, I think so," Bel said. "I don't know if Phoebe would appreciate it as much," he added with a wink.

"Since she's not a chem geek, no I don't think she would," Isabel chuckled. "But the point is, it was my way of saying I was falling for him in a way that was special and unique for him. Maybe you can do something magic related for her. Although given how spells usually turn out around here, maybe that isn't such a good idea."
