Room 406, afternoon

Isabel had reached the point where studying just wasn't happenening any longer. A quick phone call had Parker appearing, loaded down with gifts.

The door was open, the carols were playing, Annie was wearing a wee Santa hat and Parker and Isabel were laughing like demented elves as they ate chocolate and drank eggnog while waiting for people to come by so they could hand out holiday presents.


[Assume handwavey phone calls telling their friends to stop by!]

Zero, dressed in her elf costume, peered around the doorframe. "Did someone say presents?"

"You've come to the right place," Isabel nodded, pulling another present out of her stash. She held out a brightly colored gift bag. "For you."

"Oooh, thank you!" Zero held out a gift bag of her own and said, "And this is for you."

"I figured you can use that to help you relax the next time Peter does the super hero thing." Isabel opened her packages, gleed at the chocolate and gasped at the cranes. "Oh...These are gorgeous! Thank you!"

"I'm learning to not spaz. But this will help!"

"I might have to get some for Greg," she said, shaking her head. "I left him messages about the trip to Maine on Monday, and then another little mission I went on last night. Too bad he didn't get the messages till after I was gone. So he worried until I got back."

"Yeh, I was invited to Maine, but I had the flu or a virus or no internet connectionsomething. Pity. I handwavily hear I missed a bar brawl."

"Aww, I hope you're feeling better. You did. By Fandom standards though? It was pretty tame," Isabel assured her.

"Hey!" Parker waved, then held out an envelope and a box. "In fact? Someone did. Love the hat. Tell me your boyfriend's not being held hostage again."

"Ooh, pretty. And eeee!" Zero bounced as she opened the tickets. "No, this time I'm a presents-delivering elf instead of a rescuing elf. And speaking of which..." Zero held out a largish box containing this, this, this, and this. "Happy Christmas."

"Thank you! You like the Femmes? I wasn't totally sure... And yay on presents-delivering." Parker ripped open the box and said "Ooooooo!" she lifted out the shawl and draped it over herself. "Pretty, pretty-- and ooo, I love this bracelet!" The coffee and car charms made her chortle. "Oh, so awesome. One for Dave, one for the Miata, one for the Porsche. You. Rock."

"Of course I like the Violent Femmes! I sort of am one, after all." Zero looked impish as she reached into her messenger bag and pulled out two strands of prayer flags. "Also for Dave."

"Because he needs them," Parker snickered, shaking her head. "How long are you sticking around until?"

"I'll be headin' out first thing Friday mornin'," Zero said. "I need the extra time to play with the twins, y'know."

"I knooow." Parker grinned. "I'm probably not going to be back before New Year's." She twisted the bracelet on her wrist, looking very pleased. "So if I don't see you before then, say hi to your family for me, and get pix of the little demons."

"Absolutely," Zero promised. "Say hello to...I don't know. Anyone who doesn't think I'm a bad influence. Sydney, I suppose. And, squall, your father too. He can handle it."

"Definitely. He can just deal," Parker said determinedly. "And Angelo. I'm getting him a copy of Teal Dear's songs, and five bucks says he plays it to death. Especially 'Kicking Trolls'."
