Disneyland, all day

Isabel had tried to be mature and blase about going to Disney. But by the time they'd gotten their tickets, gotten into the park and were standing on Main Street, she was pretty much bouncing with excitement. "Okay, where do you want to go first?"

Isabel reached over and patted his arm. "Nope. Personally I think the rides aren't allowed to break. Because that wouldn't be fun and this place is all about the fun."

"Good thing," Cedric said, "because I left my wand in the hotel and I couldn't have fixed the ride."

"Actually that's good. They wouldn't understand," Isabel said quietly. "It's why you won't see me doing anything alien related outside of Fandom. It's too dangerous."

"I wouldn't really do it," Cedric said. "Believe me, I know about odd looks and separation."

"Do you? Your trip home?" she asked as the ride ended and she climbed out of the car. "Or other times?"

"Well, all of wizarding England is kept completely separate from...Muggles," he said, unsure if he's used that word around Isabel or not.

"Let me guess, non magical folks? It makes sense in a way." Isabel blinked as they walked outside into the sunshine.

"You would be correct," he said, nodding and shading his eyes. "It's not the best term but it's the common term."

"I'm sure it could be worse," she said. "I guess you kept to yourselves because regular people just wouldn't understand?" Isabel led the way over to a vendor and bought two frozen Mickey Ear ice creams. "Here, sweet stuff."

"Thank you," he said. "I'm not sure of the exact reasons we kept separate. I guess it would be some people wouldn't really know how to handle the magic that occurs where I'm from. It would be a certain shock to them. Of course, seeing the darker magic might be even worse."

"That's the same with us," Isabel nodded. "Some people would be delighted to find out we're here. But others? They'd freak, not be able to handle it. Plus the government would prefer to either have us as lab rats, or dead."

Cedric nodded, very familiar with that train of thought. "But, sometimes secrets are quite enjoyable."

He tried to smile but, instead, glared at his ice cream.

Isabel bumped against his shoulder. "Oh really? And what secrets are you keeping?"

"Do I need to do puppy eyes?" she threatened. "Because I will if I have to."

"Not all," Isabel smiled. "You need to keep a few because it helps you keep that air of mystery. But tell me one." There was an empty bench nearby and she took a seat, looking up expectantly.

He took the seat next to her, contemplating which secret he could tell.

"Let's see..." He pursed his lips thoughtfully. "Um, it's rather difficult to pick something, you know."

"You have that many do you?" Isabel teased.

"No," he said. "But I have a few that aren't pleasant and I'm trying to avoid those."

She nodded. "I've had a few of those myself at times. It does help to talk though. I found that out the hard way."

He nodded but avoided those anyway. "You know about my secret dislike of coffee so I suppose that's not such a secret."

"And you know that I'm not really from around here," she replied. "Of course that hasn't been such a big secret since that Skeeter woman made her radio broadcast."

Isabel nodded, "I know you have a version of her at least. After what she did to me, Xander had his friend who was at Hogwarts do a little research on her. In that timeline, she had been a reporter but had been reduced to writing cheesy ads for the back of Wizard Monthly or something. One of them was about making your wand grow."
