Room 406, evening

It had been a very quiet Sunday for Isabel. After being up half the night, she finally fell into a deep sleep after the sun rose. After a visit to the gym, she returned to find a voicemail waiting for her. Shaking her head, she hoped Alec was doing okay.

At some point she was going to have to go out and spend some time in the common rooms, Isabel realized. But for now it's easier to stay in her room and read and think. Settling down on her bed, she started reading through her notes for Revolutions.

The door was open.

"Oh yes!" He threw himself after her, carefully, trying to pin her legs so he could grab the bear away. "He's a rival, he has to go!"

Isabel wiggled her feet, trying to hit a ticklish spot. "No! He's my one and only. I'm never giving him up!"

Jack gasped out a laugh as her foot found the most ticklish spot and let her go. "Gah, no tickling!" he said, and scrambled after her.

Unfortunately she'd let herself get trapped in the corner made by the wall and the headboard of the bed so there really wasn't anywhere else to go. She curled protectively around the bear. "Don't worry bear! I'll save you!"

"Don't listen!" Jack warned the bear, doing his best looming impression of a looming thing as he tried to wrest him away from Isabel.

Isabel kept one arm tight around the bear. With the other? Well, it was a very bright shade of pink that Jack was now wearing.

It made him pause, blinking down at the shirt, then he looked up, a slow, wicked smile spreading across his face. "You realise," he said, leaning over her. "All's fair now."

"What are you going to do" Isabel asked, a challenge in her eye. "Charm me to death?"

"Maybe. Or I might just do this!" He grabbed her around the waist, hauled her into his lap, pulled up her shirt and blew a raspberry on her stomach.

And then leapt off the bed, laughing like crazy, putting some distance between them.

Laughing, Isabel pulled her shirt back down and shook her head. "You're insane. You know that right?"

"Maybe," he repeated, staying where he was. "But at least I'm more entertaining than the bear?"

"Possibly. But I love the bear," Isabel replied. "I'm not giving him up." She watched him across the room and raised an eyebrow. "What? Are you afraid of me or something?"

"Cautious," he replied, waggling his fingers at her and grinning. "I don't want to end up the same colour as my shirt."

"Leave the bear alone and you'll be fine," she grinned. "As nicely and I might even change your shirt back."

"Hmmmm." Jack pretended to think about while he wandered back to the bed and flopped down next to her. "Nope. I like it pink." He grinned. "No changing it back, but I'm prepared to forgive the bear if he'll share."

She bent her head down as if she was listening to the bear talk. "I see. Okay. I promise. Trust me, he's got three others to juggle. Good." Looking up, Isabel smiled. "Okay. He'll share."

Jack laughed, leaning on her shoulder. "It's a deal," he said, reaching out to scratch the bear behind the ear. "He's not the only reason I'm here."

"Of course not," Isabel said. "You've been gone since Friday. Almost forty-eights without my sparkling wit and personality. You need to bask in my radiance."

"How did you know?" he asked, feigning shock. "I thought I was covering it so well!"

"Nope," she grinned. "I knew it. You missed me."

"I did. I really did," he said, abandoning silliness in favour of hugging her tightly. But he was very careful not to dislodge the bear.

Isabel slipped an arm around his waist and leaned into him, still keeping a careful hold on the bear. "So is this some sort of threesome?"

Snickering, Jack pondered the question. "It could be, I guess. Though he's a bit fluffy for my tastes."

"But think of how warm he'd be. Almost like those living fur coats you told me about," she chuckled.

"He's a bit small." Jack let that statement just hang there, and stared at the bear, who he was beginning to think was staring back.
