Room 406, evening

A week that had included library duty, a night out at Caritas, movies with a friend, exams, and plotting a rescue mission meant that Isabel was pretty damn tired when she went to bed on Friday night. Unfortunately the conversation with Rikku brought memories and Isabel didn't actually get into a deep sleep until some time just before dawn. She slept till noon when the sound of yelling and chaos in the hallways woke her.

A quick look out her door found Isabel shutting it quickly. Beyond grateful to whatever quirk of Fandom left her still eighteen, she decided an afternoon with a good book was much better then weetiny chaos.

After a quiet afternoon, Isabel finally got out her camera and opened her door.

He gave her a weak smile that took way too much effort. "Phoebe's four. Bel's five or six. Rough is the least of it."

"You mean they're wearing you out more as little kids?" she asked, snickering just a bit.

"And there's a mental image I didn't need," Anders said, grimacing. "Took me two hours to clean up the mess after they tried to help me make cupcakes this morning, and I owe the cats a huge treat for playing keep-away with Phoebe and the vodka bottle, and now Phoebe's run off and Bel went to find her, and I can't find them anywhere."

Isabel couldn't help but laugh. "I'm sorry. They do sound like handfuls. But I wouldn't worry too too much. I swear the island looks out for all the wee tiny people during times like this."

"Yeah, I know. Can't help worrying about them, though," Anders replied, grinning a little bit. "I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't get affected by this."

"You're the first non wee person I've seen," she admitted. "Of course I've had the door closed and locked all afternoon so I might have missed someone else."

"Judging from the cereal and empty ice cream containers all over the common rooms? It's most of them," Anders said with a wry grin. "Wyatt pulled a singing purple dinosaur out of the TV, for one."

"Oh my god, so they're all hyped on sugar?" Isabel facepalmed. "Maybe I'd better shut the door again after all."

Anders laughed. "That might be a good idea, yeah. Partly my fault for making cupcakes, too. But oh my gods, Isabel, they're frakking adorable."

"They are," she agreed. "Without the added dubya tee eff of being our kids. I've been taking pictures. Blackmail of course."

Anders smirked. "I've got a picture of Bel pouting. I'm so keeping that forever."

"I want a copy," Isabel said immediately.

"Don't ever tell him I gave it to you, and it's a deal," Anders said instantly, pulling his phone out to show her.

She peered at the phone and laughed. "Oh that's perfect. He's lucky he didn't trip over that lip it's sticking out so far."

"I know!" Anders said between snickers. "Isn't it great? He was mad because he was trying to help me make cupcakes and kept making a mess, so I told him to leave the ingredients to me."

"Yeah, I can see that," she nodded. "He'd want to take charge."

Anders snorted affectionately. "That's my boyfriend for you."

"Oh? You've gone officially to titles?" Isabel grinned. "Good for you!"

Anders grinned a little more broadly. "He started it, yeah. Even if he does threaten to kick my ass if I say it in public."

She rolled her eyes. "That doesn't surprise me in the least. He's way too macho."

"Yeah, but I kind of love that about him," Anders admitted, blushing slightly.

"Awww," Isabel said, grinning at the blush. "Should I break out the chocolate now?"

"No brownies," Anders said automatically.

She handed over the bag with her stash of Dove pieces. "No, you're safe. Because I love you dearly, but I will never share brownies with you ever again. I'm not ready for our kid to turn up."

"What's left of my sanity thanks you," Anders told her, digging a piece of chocolate out of the bag for himself. "Love you too, big sis."
