New York City Road Trip, Day Three

So far the trip had been great.

But there was still plenty of things to see before the roadtrippers returned to Fandom tonight.

"I will send Altra to get them back," he replied, laughing around a yawn as he cracked open an eye to peer at Gavin. Just to make sure pillow napping wasn't imminent. "And he will take all of yours as well."

"Altra likes me," Gavin mumbled. "He wouldn't steal from me."

Gavin was probably right, but Karal shook his head. "It would not be stealing," he said, closing his eye again and pulling the blanket over his head. "I would just be looking after them for you."

"Is that what you're doing with my clothes?" Gavin asked, laughing.

"Yes," he said decisively, though it was a bit muffled. "I am ensuring that no one can steal them from you."

"You're so kind," he teased, laughing. "Just remember to give them back or I'll have to wear towels or my flight suit all the time."

"They will be laundered and returned, you have my word." He flipped the blanket down and smiled at Gavin. "And thank you again for loaning them to me. I can not imagine how Peter's mother would have reacted had I been wearing my robes."

"Probably ask a lot of questions," Gavin decided. "I wonder what she'd said if you'd worn leather pants."

Karal started to laugh. "I will find some way to obtain a pair of leather pants for you," he vowed. "Since you are so interested in them!"

"I just can't see how they're comfortable," Gavin argued. "They look tight!"

"It may be that the ones they have here are different. I will have Altra fetch you a pair from Valdemar," never mind Altra's probable reaction to being asked to play messenger 'cat, "and you will see how comfortable they are."

"Deal," Gavin said. "We don't really have anything different from Coruscant except my flight suit. You could try that, if you wanted."

"I think they could've bought you clothes too," Gavin pointed out. "You wouldn't be in robes for too long."

"I like my robes!" he protested. "I'll be happy to get back into them once we are back in Fandom, but maybe I should get some clothes like yours, just in case I need them again."

"I know you like them," Gavin said, smiling. "I just meant...I meant, that you wouldn't have felt out of place in New York for long. People would've helped you out."

"Oh." He smiled and rubbed a hand through his hair. "Yes, I think you're right. People here are, well, they're good people. Though if I'd had to borrow clothes from Sam I might have drowned in them."

Karal laughed, then made himself stop. "Poor Sam. It can't be easy being so much bigger than everyone else."
