New York City Road Trip, Day Three

Gavin was really getting used to nice, fluffy beds. That was bad yet he wasn't quick to move this morning.

Groggy and barely conscious, Karal shifted just enough to make sure he still had his pillows, then sighed and curled up around one protectively. "My pillows," he mumbled.

Peter and his family had gone out to spend some time together. But there was still quite a spread for their guests.

Dawn yawned her way directly to a cup of coffee and felt only the slightest twinge of guilt about not calling her father for Father's Day. It probably would have been worse if she'd actually ever met the man or knew where he was.

She sat down with a large plate of food and began eating quietly.

It had been kind of an overwhelming two days, so Karal was relieved to come downstairs and find a lack of formidable Mother Petrellis at the breakfast table.

He voiced a quiet, "Good morning," then helped himself to breakfast and a seat, happy to enjoy a touch of quiet time.

Gavin came down after awhile, smiled at those at the table and then took a seat and ate some breakfast.

Tourist Time

Peter had promised to catch up with them later. For now, they were on their own. Isabel had a guide book and was checking it frequently.

Dawn had never been on the subway before either, so she was checking the map pretty frequently. "Okay, I've smelled demons that smelled better than this," she muttered.

Karal was hanging on very tightly to a pole, and trying not to look out the windows. "I can not credit that people gave up horses in favour of this," he said.

"It wasn't a direct trade," Dawn explained. "It kinda went from horses to cars to buses to traffic and smog to subways."

Forehead pressed against the glass of the observation deck, Karal was staring out over the city. He kept waiting to be scared, because he had never been so high, but it couldn't get past his awe. "Sunlord, this is incredible," he breathed."

Karal tore his attention away from the view long enough to glance at Gavin. "Seeing views like this, every time you fly, does the wonder ever go away?"
