Isabel rummaged through the kitchen and came up with something that sort of resembled dinner, then she grabbed the remote and turned the TV to Iron Chef America. Bobby Flay, wild boar, and grilled watermelon? It looked interesting.

Now it was Isabel's turn to give sympathetic pats. "Like you said, the first step is the hardest. Now that I've made it, hopefully I'm on the road to recovery."

"I'm here for you all the way," Peter said.

"I appreciate it," she said sincerely. "And to show my appreciation, well, I've got some cookies from J,GoB in my room. Want me to go get them before the bad movie starts?"

"Please!" Peter said. "I could use the sugar rush."

"Give me two minutes," Isabel smiled and then headed down the hall.

Approximately four minutes later she was back, the extra two minutes because she stopped and got milk to go with the cookies.

"Is this seat taken?" she asked, glancing at the spot on the couch next to Peter.

"Oh yeah," Peter said. "By a pretty wonderful girl."

"She left you alone. She's lost her seat," Isabel said, as she sat down and held out Peter's glass of milk. "That was not very wise of her."

"I dunno," Peter said. "I think she might come back."

Isabel dunked a cookie in her milk and shrugged. "I can take her."

"Sure about that?" Peter said. "She is pretty special."

"I think it would be worth it," she said, snuggling down in her seat. That might have involved a little bit of shoulder leaning.

Peter might've been okay with shoulder leaning, as evidenced by him leaning back.

The good thing about TK? It meant that when your hands were full of milk and cookies, it was still easy to pass the bag of cookies. "There's chocolate chip and sugar cookies in there. Hopefully that'll keep you from passing out from a lack of sugar."
