Even though there had been some discussion of wedding plans, Isabel had managed not to get too carried away with the planning and had instead spent the last week enjoying time with Wyatt and her family.

Unfortunately though, Wyatt did have a family of his own to get back to. Which meant it was time for him to head off to San Francisco. Isabel was trying hard not to think about how that could go wrong. After dinner with her family they took a ride out into the desert, partly to see the show but mostly because good-byes, even if they were only going to be temporary, were easier without a crowd.

"I would be a little disturbed if you were letting stuffed animals nibble your neck," Wyatt said, not stopping his own nibbling.

Isabel moved closer, which coincidentally happened to put her right in Wyatt's lap. "I promise, the only one who'll be nibbling on my neck is you."

"Even when you're surrounded by hot college guys wandering around the dorms shirtless?" Wyatt said. No, he wasn't the tiniest bit insecure.

"Even then. It'll just make me grab my phone and call you because I'm missing you horribly," she promised.

Hot shirtless guys shouldn't bother him, because there'd been enough of the at Fandom High. But he was close then, not miles (and years) away. "I can orb for a visit every weekend," he said.

If Isabel was a telepath and realized what Wyatt was thinking, she'd probably take the opportunity to point out that she was having a lot of the same thoughts about California girls. But she wasn't so instead she just held him a little tighter. "I like that plan."

"You going to be in a coed dorm or are you going to have to smuggle me in?" Wyatt asked. "I might have to draw the line about dressing in drag to get in."

"It's co-ed. So no worries there," she grinned, amused at the mental picture. "But I will have a roommate. Hopefully she won't mind if you turn up for a visit. Long term though? I might have to see about getting an apartment or something."

"Cozy little love nest for two?" Wyatt grinned.

"I wish. I'll probably still have to share," Isabel grumbled. "But at least I'd have my own bedroom."

Wyatt nodded; he'd be seeing about getting an apartment once his first year was done and he'd made some friends. "I'm expecting the grand tour of the city of sin when I come to visit."

"I think I can manage that," she promised with a grin. "We can go dancing. That's always fun." And she even meant literal dancing. Not the euphemistic kind.

"Sounds fun," Wyatt said. "Just not that place I heard Uncle Cole went to. Unless we're in the mood to hunt demons."

"Considering I won't be seeing you daily? I don't think hunting demons will be on the agenda when I do," Isabel pointed out. "So yeah, no vampire bars."

"I think we'll be lucky if we manage to leave your dorm room," Wyatt said slyly. He held Isabel just a little tighter.

"I'll have to work out a signal with my roommate. A scrunchie on the door maybe?" She was doing some holding of her own, and very much not looking forward to the point when she'd have to let go. "We definitely got spoiled in Fandom."

"You're going to be careful right?"

"I'll be careful," Wyatt promised. "I'm probably not even on any demonic radars in my dimension."

"For the moment. That'll change the first time you kick something big and ugly's ass," Isabel replied. "And then they'll come looking for you."

Wyatt pressed his forehead against hers. "I'll be okay," he said. "I've got my protection shield, and you know how hard it is to take me out."

She brushed her lips against his. "I love you. I worry. I can't help it."

"I love you, too," Wyatt murmured, kissing her back. "And you know I'm going to worry about you."

"Trust me, I'll be keeping a very, very low profile," Isabel promised. "I think the worse I'll have to deal with are drunks in the casinos. Because I have a feeling that's where I'm going to wind up working."

". . . in the casino?" Wyatt said, suddenly having visions of dancing girl!Isabel in his head, which was fine for himself, but not for the whole world.

"We have to work in a field related to our degree," she explained. "So I'll probably try to get a job in banquet services or something." Which hopefully wouldn't turn into a job as a cocktail waitress.

"Just no skimpy outfits," Wyatt teased. "Not unless you're trying to make me crazy."
