I Just Want To Be Normal

Anakin knocked on the door jamb, tuxedo tie askew. "Um, help?"

"Of course," Isabel smiled as she put the nail polish aside. A wave of her hands and the deep red color was dry. "You look great."

"You look..." Anakin paused. "Um, like you're still getting ready?" he finished.

He plucked at an invisible piece of dust on his shirt. "I feel like I'm in costume or something."

"I'm having dinner with Bridge and Xander here. It's safer to not be in my dress when we're eating burgers for dinner," Isabel explained. "I'll get dressed just before I leave."

"You look dashing. Even better then Zorro," she grinned. "Much more Bond-like. Come here, let me see if I can fix that tie."

Anakin blushed. "Thanks," he said, walking over and holding still. "The girl at the tuxedo place made it look so easy. I just can't seem to get it to work."

Reaching up Isabel was able to the get the tie knotted neatly in just a minute. "You only thought she showed you. Really it's a conspiracy to allow women to get up close with handsome men in tuxes," she smiled as she stepped back. "You're all set now."

"You think?" Anakin looked down at his chrono, distinctly out of place with the rest of the outfit. "I'm supposed to pick up Rory in a few minutes. I don't look too ridiculous?"

Yeah, he's just that nervous.

She was suddenly reminded of Max before some of his first dates with Liz. "You look perfect. And Rory will be beautiful and together you'll be the best looking couple there. Go get your date and have fun. I'll see you there."

Anakin gave her a relieved smile. "Thanks, Isabel. Save me a dance, okay?"

He headed back towards his room.

"I will," she called after him. "I'll see you there!"

Bridge bounces in to the room, tuxedo in tow.

"Hi!" he chirps, looking not at all wide-eyed and nervous, nope.

"Hey Bridge! Excited?" Isabel grinned.

"Yep!" Bridge says with a grin.

The door hasn't quite closed behind him when Xander comes in, dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, bag from All & Sundries in one hand.

"Greetings, people of Earth. And, um, elsewhere. I come bearing flowers. But, you know. Guy flowers."

"And I have dinner," she said as she got up and went to her desk. "Direct from Luke's. Hungry?"

"Am I ever not?" Xander drops the bag onto his bed with a grin.

"I think there was one moment. Maybe. But it was fleeting," Isabel said with a grin as she picked up Xander's dinner. A moment's concentration and it was back to piping hot. "Here, eat up," she said as she handed it over. Bridge's was ready just a minute later. "I really should have taken that job at the Crashdown. No one would have ever complained about cold food again."

Bridge laughs. "Thanks, Isabel. I can see how that would be a useful skill to have."

"Max would complain I'm using my powers recreatationally. Which can be a problem in Roswell, but not here." She heated up her own dinner and dipped one of her fries in ketchup and took a bite before continuing. "Around here it's useful. I need to whammy Cal's door later on so I can get in and set up a romantic after prom evening for her and Angel."

Bridge frowns thoughtfully. "Would you have to touch it to do, um, whatever?" he waves a hand vaguely.

"I was just going to touch the doorknob. I need the contact to make the mechanism work," she explained. "I just touch it, visualize it happening. And presto, door open. Is that a problem?"

"Er. Only if you view ending up in the middle of the duck pond as a problem," Bridge says, a bit sheepishly.
