Room 406, afternoon

There's a blanket and some pillows on the extra bed, and she's moved some of her books and picture frames over to the extra so it doesn't look quite so empty. Isabel is sitting on the floor, puzzle mat spread out in front of her. She's made progress and the puzzle is almost all done. All that's left to do is fill in the blue background.

Demyx was just wandering the dorms, exploring and looking in the open doors. Looking in room 406, he had to double-take. "Why do you have a picture of the King??" he asked incredulously, completely disregarding the whole thing about not knowing this girl.

Isabel looked up and blinked. "The king? I know Disney is powerful but I didn't realize they'd appointed Mickey as monarch."

"He's King Mickey!" Demyx insisted, walking into the room and crouching down by the puzzle without being invited. "He lives in Disney Castle with Queen Minnie and Sora's pretty much his chosen champion and he sealed the Doorway and has a Keyblade and..." he trailed off, realizing he was rambling. "You're not from where I'm from, are you?" he asked, a little forlorn sounding.

"I'm sorry, I'm not," Isabel said as she tried not to laugh. The idea that somewhere there was a reality with a real King Mickey and Queen Minnie was probably one of the more amusing things she'd heard during her time in Fandom. But it actually made a certain kind of sense. "I'm Isabel Evans. And you are?"

"Demyx," he replied, unable to take his eyes off the puzzle. "And I miss home. If I'd known it was my last day there, I would've...I would've..." He sighed and looked up at her with bright blue eyes. "Nevermind. It's nice to meet you, Isabel. Where did you get this?"

"You didn't plan on coming to Fandom? That seems to be going around," she said thinking of what Cedric had told her. "I'm sorry you're missing home. I know being away from family isn't fun. That's why I do puzzles. It's a distraction." Tapping the puzzle she said, "I ordered this from an online store. Around here he's a famous cartoon character and the symbol of a large entertainment franchies. I just think he's cute."

"Yeah. I died, and instead of going wherever dead people go, I ended up here. Alive. Well, as alive as Nobodies are." He shrugged. "I don't have family, but...well, there's Roxas and Axel, and I really miss Axel. But it's hard to think of King Mickey being a...cartoon? He's kinda like our enemy, in a way, but I always liked him better than Xemnas anyway."

Tilting his head and looking at Isabel, Demyx sat back on his heels. "Do you like King Mickey?"

"Isabel!" Jack leaned against the door frame, grinning down at her. "Got your message, and I hope not. I'd feel like a failure. It's always supposed to be better for the other person. It's kind of my goal in life."

"Well you achieved your goal," she smiled. "I had a nice time. But how's your head feeling today? Come on in, by the way. Sit down and relax."

Jack sauntered in and, adopting a liberal interpretation of the word 'sit', sprawled across her bed, lying on his stomach to peer at the puzzle. "My head? It's fine. I don't get hangovers." Smug made a brief appearance. "I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. And thanks again."

Isabel shook her head, amused, as Jack made himself at home. "I can't drink a drop without winding up plastered and you can down double bourbons like water and not get a hangover? Life is not fair."

With a pleased smile she fit two more pieces together and dropped them in place. "So what have you been up to today? Go on anymore dates?"

"How boring would life be if we were all the same? And in an 'interesting things people can do' contest, I'm pretty sure having the power to blow things up or change their structure beats being able to drink a lot." Jack reached out and tapped the puzzle. "This is insane, you realise that, don't you? But no, no date today. I did leave Z a message about my promise to buy her a danish, though, so I'm sure it's only a matter of time." He hesitated. "I got an email today, though." There may have been a little bounce of subdued excitement at the last.

"You have a point," she agreed. "About both the interesting things and the puzzle. I don't know what I was thinking. Z's nice. She was up here the other night when we had a little good-bye party for Xander. And I know she enjoyed breakfast Friday." Isabel looked up from her study of the puzzle box. "An email? From who?"

Peter knocked on the doorframe and poked his head into the room. "Hey, Isabel. How're things? Good?"

"Lots of places, most of them with a shirt on," Peter said. "Well, yesterday I just stayed in my room and read all day. But before that, lots of places."

"Most?" she grinned. "Did you possibly participate in that wonderful school tradition of shirtless Friday?" Isabel pointed towards her desk where two boxes sat. "I owe Parker and Alanna chocolate for that."

"Out meeting all the new people? God, there's enough of them," she laughed. "I met your roommate. He's nice."

"I was in a common room briefly on Friday and may have been convinced to participate in the new tradition for Zero's sake. Pictures and all," Peter said, possibly blushing a little.

"Well, mostly I've just been in my room due to mun being afk. But I've met a bunch of people. They seem nice. But I may have to soundproof a wall thanks to my new neighbor."

"Traditions are important," Isabel nodded, trying not to laugh. "And I'm sure Zero appreciated the picture. Let me guess, Parker had the camera?"

"Oh really? Who's your neighbor?"

Aeryn's in part testing her knee with a trip up two floors. In part, she just hasn't actually talked to Isabel in a while, so she finds herself in front of the open door, knocking. "Hi," she says.

"The common rooms are insane lately. I'm avoiding them today," she says by way of explanation. "How are you?"

"Yeah, all the new people are a little overwhelming," Isabel agreed. "It's easier to meet them one at a time when they wander by the door." She shrugged, "I'm doing okay."

"Sucky? How's John doing?" Isabel asked. "I know having your roommate move out sucks. Having your roommate move out and leave for a different dimension has to be really crappy." She waved her hand towards the extra bed. "Don't lurk in the doorway. Come in and have a seat."
