After a long, hot shower, Isabel finally felt warm. It's not that she didn't enjoy canoeing. She really did. It was the dumping part she could have done without. Now she's relaxing with a hot chocolate and her trashy novel.

"Why do I have a feeling Zero's family never have quiet parties?" Isabel sat up and quickly changed Peter's hair back to it's regular color. "That was good thinking on her part. But you're right, she probably just wanted to see what she missed. Did it match her hair?" Finished, she sat back. "By the way, I had to crash in your bed Friday night. It seems our cabin went missing."

"No, her hair was blue for too long. She wanted something different for summer," Peter said. "Thank you, by the way."

"Oh, so they actually pulled off the invisible cabin prank? Go Stickbugs!"

"Anytime. That's what I'm here for." She raised an eyebrow at his evident glee. "You realize I can change your hair back just as easily don't you?"

"But you won't because I already went through enough this weekend, right?" Peter asked, trying to give his best sad puppy face. "Because Friday night was even more dangerous for me than Sunday's rescue mission."

Isabel has a brother. She's immune to puppy dog face. "I suppose, but only if you tell me why. Tell me a story Peter," she said plaintively.

"Okay, so I got there on Friday and everyone was just eyeing me. I had no clue what was going on," Peter said. "This kept for a few hours. Then at dinner they made it clear that they didn't know our marriage wasn't real."

Peter was facepalming at that.

"Marriage?" she asked curiously. "Is there something you need to tell me?" Then she remembered weetiny weekend and being a bridesmaid. "She never told them it was a fake wedding?" Isabel fell over she was laughing so hard.

"They wanted us to get an annulment because they thought we were on drugs or something," Peter admitted. "Zero just couldn't find a good time to tell them that she was a little kid when it happened. It doesn't help that she called home when she was wee to tell them."

"So, yeah, I came in as the guy who hooked their baby on drugs and married her. They speculated that I got her pregnant, too. I swear, they only let me into their house so they could meet me before they murdered me."

"Oh Peter," Isabel said weakly, still shaking with giggles. "And here you were looking to make a good impression."

"Yeah, Friday was bad. If I even looked at Zero, I could feel the chills in the room," Peter said. "I'm just lucky Zero had turned into a cat during a previous trip home, or they never would have accepted the wee excuse. I'm also lucky for the kidnapping which took the negative attention off of me."

"Well if worse comes to worse, you could have always called the Mountie for an explanation," she said. "I just hope helping rescue her brother got you back in their good graces."

"It did. Her mom moved down to vague threats, which was a huge improvement over Friday," Peter said. "Um. Except for one thing."

"Do tell," Isabel said dryly.

"Before I left, her mom made her dad give me The Talk," Peter said, facepalming severely.

Isabel might be able to talk at some point tomorrow. Right now she's too busy giggling.

Peter put on his best English accent. "He said, 'Do anything like that with her and you won't live to regret it, right?'"

Isabel snickered some more. "You couldn't play the superhero card?"

From: [identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com
"Not really. They know I'm a good fighter, but I'm not sure if Zero ever fully explained about me and what I am," Peter said. "Their world doesn't have superheroes or anything, so I didn't want to weird them out too much unless she was willing to go there."

"Understandable," she said, finally managing to stop giggling. "Roswell's superhero free as well. We just have those damn pesky aliens. Still, you survived the weekend and they're still letting Zero come back in the fall. So overall it could have been much worse."

"Very true. And now my hair is back to normal, too, which makes me happy, thank you," Peter said. "So, what have you been up to this weekend besides sleeping in my bunk, so not dirty."

From: [identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com
"So not dirty," Isabel agreed. "The luau was fun. But overall I was pretty sloth-like for the weekend. The big excitement was moving back up here yesterday. And then Greg and I went canoeing today."

Peter checked his watch, set the stopwatch function, and began. "Awwwwwwww one point three seconds."

Isabel rolled her eyes. "You like doing that don't you?"

"I find it amusing, yes," Peter said. "So, how did that go?"

From: [identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com
"It was very nice," she said. "We went around to the preserve and picnicked on the beach. You and Zero should try when she gets back. It's nice over there." There was no way Isabel was mentioning the dumping to Peter, it just wouldn't be pretty.
