Room 406, after archery into the evening

After last night's festivities, Isabel could use a little quiet. So tonight she's sitting in her room catching up on email, running through her lists of things to do for Fourth of July and possibly reading some Wendy the Werewolf Hunter fanfic. Not that she'd ever admit that.

The door is open.

Sometime in the afternoon, Cedric wanders down the hall and stops by Isabel's room. He smiles and waves.

"Good afternoon, Isabel."

Isabel looked up from her 4th of July List O'Doom and smiled. "Hi Cedric!"

"Did I come at a bad time?" Cedric asks, nodding to the list. "I can always come back."

"No, not at all. I need a break," she said with a smile. "Come in, have a seat. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to talk to you much last night."

"That's all right," he says, coming inside and taking a seat. "You were busy cooking a very delicious meal. It was delicious, by the way."

"Oh good, Jack said he was taking some. I'm glad he fed you." Isabel shrugged, "I just felt like cooking. And it's always fun to watch the crowd gather when free food is involved. So what have you been doing today?"

"Today, nothing much," he says and shrugs. "Enjoying the time to relax, I guess. There's really nothing left for me to explore so I'm just enjoying now. And yourself? Busy day?"

"Today's my busy day, yes," she said. "First Aid this morning, then archery. Now I'm working on getting things organized for the Fourth of July. I've gotten permission to have a school sponsored party on the beach."

"Oh, really?" Cedric looks away for a moment, thinking to himself before looking back. "That's a lot of organizing for a date that's approaching quickly."

"It's easy," she said. "I just need to get a caterer, organize a volleyball tournament, arrange for fireworks, see about renting chairs and umbrellas for the beach, and make some sort of sacrifice to the weather gods so we have a nice day." Isabel shrugged, "This is really nothing. You should see me at Christmas."

"That's...a lot of items that need to be procured and prepared," he says with a small laugh. "You're doing this all on your own?"

"Mostly," Isabel said breezily. "Jaye is going to help with the volleyball. Everything else is just a matter of making phone calls. Well except for the sacrifice. That might involve dancing around and sacrificing some chocolate or something. I need to do some research on that."

Cedric frowns.

"Is that how it goes here?"

"In what way?" Isabel asked, not sure of the question.

"The dancing. Is that the proper way here?"

"Oh that," Isabel laughed. "Honestly? I have no clue. I'm going to talk to Dawn and see if she knows. I'd never consider doing it at home. But it's Fandom. It's quite possible it would work here."

"True," he says, shrugging one shoulder. "If there's anyway I could help, please let me know. I tend to have a very empty schedule the first part of the week."

After Cedric leaves

Jack was wandering around the fourth floor, and ambled into Isabel's room, leaning against the wall just inside the door. "That food was delicious, and I owe you for letting me take some away," he said with a grin. "Anything you want, just name it and it's yours."

Isabel tried hard not to look too thrilled. But she did grab her notebook, flip it to a new page and title it Labor. Cedric's name was first on the list. "Thank you! I'll keep that in mind."

"Anything?" Isabel asked, raising in eyebrow. "That's a pretty big thank you. That must have been some picnic."

"Good," Cedric says and grins. "I wanted to tell you, I mailed a letter home yesterday. I took initiative as I still haven't heard from my family."

"You did? That's good," Isabel said. "Not knowing what's going on has to be difficult. I'm sure they have a good reason for not getting in touch with you before this."

"Yes, I hope so as well," he says, shifting uncomfortably. "I'm hoping it's the unfamiliarity they might have with the mail system here. You see, we're used to mail via owls."

After Jack

Molly was holding one arm close to her body and was apparently talking to a small bundle tucked near her elbow. "We're there now, you can come out. Please stop burrowing, you're poking me." She looked up and smiled at Isabel through the open door.

"Hey, Isabel. I have something for you," she said with a grin.

"Actually, it's kind of a cheat, seeing as I'll give you anything you want anyway." He walked over and joined her on the bed, stretching out on his stomach. "But it was a very good picnic. What are you up to?" he asked, waving at the list.
