Room 406, after archery into the evening

After last night's festivities, Isabel could use a little quiet. So tonight she's sitting in her room catching up on email, running through her lists of things to do for Fourth of July and possibly reading some Wendy the Werewolf Hunter fanfic. Not that she'd ever admit that.

The door is open.

"That's...a lot of items that need to be procured and prepared," he says with a small laugh. "You're doing this all on your own?"

"Mostly," Isabel said breezily. "Jaye is going to help with the volleyball. Everything else is just a matter of making phone calls. Well except for the sacrifice. That might involve dancing around and sacrificing some chocolate or something. I need to do some research on that."

Cedric frowns.

"Is that how it goes here?"

"In what way?" Isabel asked, not sure of the question.

"The dancing. Is that the proper way here?"

"Oh that," Isabel laughed. "Honestly? I have no clue. I'm going to talk to Dawn and see if she knows. I'd never consider doing it at home. But it's Fandom. It's quite possible it would work here."

"True," he says, shrugging one shoulder. "If there's anyway I could help, please let me know. I tend to have a very empty schedule the first part of the week."

Isabel tried hard not to look too thrilled. But she did grab her notebook, flip it to a new page and title it Labor. Cedric's name was first on the list. "Thank you! I'll keep that in mind."

"Good," Cedric says and grins. "I wanted to tell you, I mailed a letter home yesterday. I took initiative as I still haven't heard from my family."

"You did? That's good," Isabel said. "Not knowing what's going on has to be difficult. I'm sure they have a good reason for not getting in touch with you before this."

"Yes, I hope so as well," he says, shifting uncomfortably. "I'm hoping it's the unfamiliarity they might have with the mail system here. You see, we're used to mail via owls."

"That's right, Xander mentioned something about that once," Isabel said. "But he doesn't have to worry about that when he talks to his Willow because she tweaked his laptop so they can exchange emails. But owls? That's just such an adorable image."

"They work quite well," Cedric says. "And I'm hoping they've tried sending an owl to me and it's just gotten lost or found another owl it liked better than my letter and I haven't actually been forgotten."

"It is a long way for a poor wee owl to fly," Isabel agreed. "Unless you have magical owls that are the size of 747s and can make it over the Atlantic. But seriously, I can't see how anyone would ever forget you."

"I don't believe so either but things happen," he says vaguely. "I'm sorry, I'm moping. I apologize."

"What kind of things?" Isabel asked. "You're worried about something aren't you? And there's no need to apologize. If I hadn't heard from my family in a while, I'd mope to."

"Things occurred just before I left that make me believe there is a terrible danger coming to Hogwarts," he says quietly.

"Like what?" Isabel asked. "I'll listen if you want to talk about it."

"There was evidence of the return of the most powerful dark wizards of our time," he says and it's easier since he's told someone already. "Events occured right before I was sent away that led many to people he might be coming back."

Isabel frowned, "I know next to nothing about magic but somehow that scares me. What happened?"

"It was a mark in the sky," he says. "Something synonmous with him."

"Could it have been a mistake? Or someone just attempting a very bad joke?"

"It's a small possibility," he admits. "But doubtful. Those who fought against Voldemort wouldn't joke about such a thing. His followers? They've been waiting for this moment."

"And you haven't had any news," Isabel said quietly. "No wonder you're worried."

"Yes," he says, rubbing the back of his neck. "So, I'm really hoping I've just been forgotten."
