Room 406, Sunday morning

Isabel sat on her bed writing an email to her parents explaining why she wasn't going home for the holidays. Doing it by email felt like cheating, but at least her mom wouldn't be able to make her feel guilty like she would have if they talked on the phone.

As she typed, she sipped at a peppermint mocha. There's a second mocha and a box of assorted pastries from J,GoB sitting on the desk, (next to a print out of a newspaper article she's trying not to think about) all part of the lure she'd mentioned when she left a message last night.

Occasionally Isabel would glance at the open doorway expectantly.

[The mocha is for chasingsnitches but anyone else is welcome to stop by for a doughnut. Occasional SP due to RL.]

After leaving Jack's room and Jack sleeping, Cedric wandered upstairs and knocked on Isabel's door. He'd gotten her message and wanted to see her.

Isabel was very proud of herself for not immediately tackle hugging him. Instead she carefully put the laptop aside and got to her feet, studying Cedric carefully for any visible injuries. "Welcome back."

He blushed a little and ducked his head. "I didn't mean to disappear like that."

"I know you didn't," she assured him. "So can I hug you or would I hurt you?"

"You can hug me," he said. "I'm sore but not so much that I can't be hugged."

"Rough week then?" Isabel asked, as she did just that.

"It wasn't a pleasant return trip home," he said and hugged her back.

"Damn," she said softly. Isabel stepped back and returned to her bed, taking a seat and motioning towards the extra mocha and the space at the foot of the bed. "That's for you. Peppermint because of the season. Do you want to talk about it? Or should I ramble on about my adventures this week? Or do you want me to find some incredibly silly movie to watch on the laptop and we can just relax and be quiet?"

He took the offered mocha and the offered seat. "Thank you. And I'm not really ready to talk about a lot of what happened. So, tell me what you did this week."

"No problem, if or when you do, I'll listen if you want to talk." She crossed her legs and balanced her chin on her hands. "Let's see, I tried to keep Jack from worrying, I wrapped Christmas presents, and then I went off to Tortall for the weekend. And came back a few hours after I left believe it or not. Oh and I became a mom."

"You and Jack both had children while I was gone," Cedric said, blinking.

"That's because we both have Ethics." She pointed to where Benjamin was sitting in his open lunchbox on the desk. "That's Benjamin."

Cedric peeked over and smiled. "I heard about Bob last night. And now I meet Benjamin. Whose your partner?"

Before receiving Conner's phone call, Peter was wandering through the halls when he saw Isabel's door open. So he stopped outside to look in. "Morning, Isabel."

"Hi Peter! Doughnut?" she asked, pointing towards the box.

"Ooh, yes, please," Peter replied with a grin. He came in and took a chocolate covered one. "I'm sorry I missed IR last week. I hope your absent Prime Minister wasn't a horrifying loss."

"It was a pretty easy class. She let us out early," Isabel said. "So fortunately I didn't have to make any major policy decisions."

Peter chuckled. "I'm glad for that. Are you ready for your exams?"

"Mostly," she shrugged. "I need to do a little more studying for War Theory but other then that I think I'll do okay."

"Me as well. And possibly Hunting. You'd think knowing Latin would help, but I just end up more confused." He shrugged and leaned against the door. "I was thinking - as Student Council. Should we do something for everyone during Exam week? To help keep them from going insane?"

"Personally I think we're a little late for half the student body," Isabel grinned. "But that is a good idea. Last Spring we had a coffee cart in one o the common rooms each night during exam week."

"Only half?" Peter asked, chuckling. "I'd say three-quarters at least. We could do that again perhaps? Or in the morning to help them wake up?"

"I think we could," she nodded. "I'm pretty sure we can just charge it to the StuCo account at J,GoB. But maybe we should do it in the evenings when people are studying instead? I wouldn't want to be responsible anyone being late for their exams."

Peter laughed. "Point and an excellent one. Shall we start tomorrow night? I could pick up J,GoB food after class and set it out."

"That would be great. And it's even better that you can cover it," Isabel said, glancing towards her desk. "I've got some plans for tomorrow night that can't be changed."
