Room 406, afternoon

Isabel had reached the point where studying just wasn't happenening any longer. A quick phone call had Parker appearing, loaded down with gifts.

The door was open, the carols were playing, Annie was wearing a wee Santa hat and Parker and Isabel were laughing like demented elves as they ate chocolate and drank eggnog while waiting for people to come by so they could hand out holiday presents.


[Assume handwavey phone calls telling their friends to stop by!]

"Hey! How are you?" Isabel asked. "How are your hands?"

"Achey." Alanna said and lifted up the one with the cat in it. "Why, oh why is it always my hands and/or arms?"

"I don't know," she admitted. "But think about it, if it had been your foot or something you'd be stuck on crutches now. Take a seat," Isabel said, as she pulled out two boxes and a small envelope. Inside the envelope, a small note said that one of these would be delivered for Faithful after the new semester started.

Alanna spent a moment remembering just how she injured her hands and what would have happened if it was her foot. The expression on her face pretty much said that. "Oooooh, thank you!"

"No problem, I thought the earrings would look great on you, and I remembered how much you hate the cold," Isabel said.

"Tell me about it." Alanna dug her own book shaped package out of her bag. "I'm not very creative with gifts."

"Nonsense, it's the thought that counts," she said. "That's what makes it special."
